Another Jefferson state resident. (Redding CA.) I grew up in Kansas on a farm. I could not wait till I was old enough to leave the farm. Now I am 47 and wish I was back I Kansas.

Why do you wish you were back in Kansas? I can understand wishing to go back in time to when things were simpler.. but I wouldn't want to go back to where I lived growing up (New York City?)... not nowadays... no chickens there either...

Strangely enough hens AND roosters are legal in NYC. Plus, the top ten most populous cities in California also allow chickens. The things you discover while researching to convince your sleepy little rural agricultural town that it really is OKAY to have a few hens. Whether people actually keep chickens in their NYC sized apartments is another story. :D

(I didn't know that).. nobody would think to do it! Manhattan, East 10th Street, 18 stories high.. I really don't see somebody saying "Gee, why don't we get some chickens?"

Although.. if you didn't mind the chicken poops they would clean out the cockroaches...

Ahhh, I've always said a small flock of bantams would be great to clean out a bedbug infestation. They could run under the beds and pick them out of the boxspring! You could rent them out, like they do with goats for weeds.
