California - Northern

Wow! You guys have been busy! Hopefully everyone's chickies are doing okay with the heat.

I have been driving East with my two little kids and my mother. Going to Memphis for my cousin's wedding on Saturday. We have made it to Vernal, UT so far. Love the hotel we are in (TownePlace Suites). HATE that Utah has such strict liquor laws. After two full days of driving with those three, a glass of wine would have been wonderful. Alas, it will have to wait for tomorrow in Colorado Springs.

Have a great week!

I have 11 crele penedesenca eggs I can ship out Tuesday if anyone wants any. I am worming them tomorrow and will not have any for a few weeks after

I wish I had space in my incubator for those!

Someone should snap these up! especially those living in the place where the record high is 119 degrees, which may happen again in August this year.

It was so hot and miserable in Modesto yesterday, 108. My buff Orp was just miserable had to hose down the run and put a fan in so they got some relief. Then the weather changed, last night at this time it was still 100 and now it's 65? Weird

Eye candy! Urban chicks for me so I am small scale. Did get 3 bantam Cochin chicks from Miss Molly 8 weeks ago. The only my solid black is a girl - she is a lot of fun and way more coordinated that the guys. Both boys are males and flashy but not keepers. BTW I am a Fort Bragg native. Miss the coast especially during the hot inland summers.
.
I have a few Feed store Bantam Cochin chicks to find homes for now. I try really hard to keep within my self imposed limit. Im sure you do miss it over here when it is so hot...
Beautiful birds!
Thank you... I love them. They should be an interesting addition to the Silkies.. Not anything alike in personality .

feathersprings...beautiful chickens, love them!

They are tempting me, too, Molly! Why don't you get them so I won't be tempted anymore???

I have been doing these crazy staggered hatches with only one incubator. So, far it has been working okay. This last hatch I had 19 make it to lockdown. All 9 of the Bresse hatched but 3 of the Langshans didn't hatch. It is day 23 today with no sign of activity so I'll probably eggtopsy them later. I have 14 more Bresse eggs in the incubator that are at day 10. The high humidity for 6 days in mid incubation doesn't seem to be negatively affecting them. I need to get another incubator to use as either a hatcher or an incubator.
