My barnevelder broody has 4 olive egger chicks out. (2 black, 1 blue and a splash) 3 eggs still left to go, 2 wellies (1 is pipped) and 1 black sex link. She's not happy with being moved to more private quarters, but she's doing very well with the babies.

The welsummer broody has 4 wellie eggs and 1 is pipped in the wrong end. I've got to get her area ready for her next.

One more broody to go, and she'll hatch after the 4th of July weekend. NO MORE BROODIES! They are driving me crazy. Plus, I will be out of town for a week in mid July, so I won't be here to make sure everyone is okay.

Woke up this morning to more 80% humidity. YUCK.

The first chicks that hatched up here were right before I had to leave also. I couldn't get home fast enough! Congradulations

I'm off to Home Depot soon and remember there was a problem with sand awhile back. Playground sand was safe right?

Naptime looks funny. Do chicks just fall over or do they nestle down? We're getting our chicks in September and every pic I see shows them dead on their sides, lol. Is that what they all do?

Oh, no, chicks really DO just fall over asleep all the time. Its one reason why you have to be careful with their waterers, like putting marbles into them, so sleepy chicks dont drown. I learned to tap tap the sides of the brooder when I found them all looking dead; they wake up and my heart starts again.

x 2, what Linda said.

Sleeping tolbunt chick, a real heart stopper

Better send it in to Davis to find out what happened..... lol. That is the cutest darn thing as soon as you know it isn't dead.

I have seen older chickens doing something similar when dust bathing--They look dead on their backs in a hole already.....

.
Well I have shamelessly listed mine under the "free stuff" section and have gotten several responses same day. I have rehomed 7 and have at least 5 more. Probably more like 7 more. So far everyone says they are keeping them but .....I am a bit of a realist. So probably not.

Anyway this guy is a little fem but his coloring is absolutely different than the Wheaten hens. I got two hens and two roos out of the hatch.

Now that I rehomed my Basque Roo yesterday one of these guys is going a little power mad and trying to keep everyone away from the food.
This is my 3rd try to post. Each time I tried to upload 1 photo the website froze and I lost all text in the process

Thanks for the tip. Good to know CL free produces responses. So far I have received post-midnight responses. Two bizarre ones from the same guy I deleted and he went away. This morning I cringed to see another late night post. This one was from a private party suggesting I try listing on frankstrade.com. New to me, but it seems legit although a long shot to work. I took updated photos of Tango and will try posting under bantam Cochin Frizzle roo. I wish I knew what type of Cochin he is, but nobody responded on a couple of different BYC threads I tried. I cannot match up his coloring to any photos I found of the bantam Cochin varities. Hopefully someone will see potential! He is not at all pushy like his long gone hatch mate roo. I suspect our 3 pullets will test each their place in the pecking order when he is gone.

Finally got these photos to post by first loading them to a new BYC album. His chick fuzz is finally going away and feathers coming in. There is a hint of a tail at long last.
