California - Northern

and a quick thanks to both Molly and Deb on this list -- i've arranged to get some silver campine eggs from Deb for my latest broody, and yesterday, after Molly mentioned that she needed to reduce her flock, i spontaneously drove up I-80 to collect four lovely isbar & isbar/marans crosses from her. SO great to meet you in person, Molly, and thank you both for stoking my chicken addiction even further!

Molly and Deb are some of the best chicken addict's around!

Iced tea silly..... Yes, next time

I still need to drive my butt down your way and take some photos and sip some iced tea! Erm... just not THIS weekend.... it's gonna be hot enough up in my neck of the woods. I'm worried about how the flock will do.

Here are photos of the visiting peacock. I took these the first evening I saw him in my yard.

He IS a juvenile cock, right? Not a hen?

In any case, he's hung around for three days now. I have named him "Kevin" after the "snipe" in the movie UP!

It's been so hot I have only gone outside for very short periods of time to complete flock chores .... and check to see where Kevin is meandering. He has been VERY interested in the coop pop door.

My husband and I made a large inclosed yard connected to their gated area, guess you could call it a gated community! Anyway, have the sprinkler out there today making mud puddles. The chickens love it. Had to repair our 100 ft hose. Someone came onto our property in the night, cut the hose trying to get gas out of our cars. We live on a private road and know who did it but can't prove it. Young people who wanted gas for their quads. No place is safe anymore.

"My brother was the king of cardboard kitty and potato launchers. He worked in an equipment yard, and he and his friends decided that acetaline would work really well.
