California - Northern

I like that! I started with black white and red so this year added mostly shades of brown with a little more white tossed in. The EEs and my hatch mostly turned up browns too. I always picked the turquoise/aqua marine crayon first It's still my favorite color :-)
I'm a sucker for partridge and penciled markings. It hasn't stopped me from adding all kinds of other things though, white is one that I don't a problem resisting.

It was nice meeting you today Jason, and your two children.

Although it was small, I managed to sell ALL my chicks

I was selling them at give-away prices anyway so now I don't have to feed them. 26 less mouths to feed!

Although... I did bring two birds back home - they weren't my chicks...

I now have two female muscovy ducks

Just can't pass up a good Blue... and she needed a friend (Black Pied).

Ah well.. it did say "trade".. so I traded the money I got from selling the chicks for the ducks! HAH!

That's ok - it was hot.. and Sharon said the other location in Orangevale has a LOT more shade!

You might bring your chickens you don't want to the next one and see if you can pawn.. um.. sell them to somebody else. Just make sure your daughter has a nap before you go...because sitting there can get boring for kids. I think sitting in the shade petting a rabbit might be fun...

Look who got tired of being in the coop. Chick Kindergarten lesson #1
. Kudos for composition! Adorable. I can rarely get my 3 to pose so I take lots of shots in hope of getting lucky. I can tell you have a knack for having camera ready. Look forward to updates as they grow. :P

I wanted to go to one too. It was maybe 3 miles from me. But have you ever had one of those days that was busier than you ever thought it could be?
just wanted to share pics of my first ever broody hatch...she went 4 for 4. The LG and I went 7 for 21 so it's broodies for me from now on
Awwww those are some cute pictures!!! Yay for a 100% hatch!

He once had a strawberry and was running with it, couldn't see where he was going...ran right into a wooden barrel.
This was some funny right there, I don't care who ya are (said in Larry the cable Guys voice of course). Lolololol.
Yeah!!! I did the girl dance for you.
Lol I would have loved to see that. Is it similar to a rain dance?
Still looking for a good home for my little Golden Sebright Rooster; I swear the sound of roosters crowing in the morning didn't used to bother me, but now that I'm living in a densely populated area where roosters are illegal, as soon as he peeps at 6:30 am I'm fully awake and sweating, hoping the police won't come knocking. Anyway, I posted an ad on the Free/Rehoming thread, but I thought I'd post my rooster glamour shots here too. I did find one woman who was interested when he was still a chick, but she lives in Southern California and I'm going to have to make at least a 4.5 hour drive (one-way, so 9 total) for that drop-off. Argh blargh. I also worry that my 3 remaining tiny Sebright hens would get themselves into trouble with cats or hawks without the rooster to protect them, although they are pretty good at sticking to the shrubbery, and I can consider making them a properly fenced and covered run if it becomes more of an issue than it has been.
Isn't that an awful feeling? I thought I was the only one that stresses like that. It may not be the best way to go but an option for you short term maybe is to put him in the garage or even the coop with some sort of short box or crate over him until later in the morning. I was told ( it may not be accurate because I haven't had to try it yet) but if they can't stretch their neck out they can't crow......? Can anyone confirm that?
My rooster -Melvin- finally started a full (but pretty quiet) crow a couple weeks ago. I've been keeping him in a dog crate in the garage at night. I let him out about 9AM or so. It hasn't been a problem. He rarely crows during the day. I really like him though, He is so weird and funny. Always finding food for the girls, and doing his crazy dances. He's even nice to the older chicks.
Gotta love those young guys that are nice to old chicks too!
If I sit outside to drink my tea in the am...which I like to do...Rose is on my chair/lap instantly she stares at my face and I get nervous because I think she's going to go all Alfred Hitchcock on my eyeballs. The look she has in this pic is the same one she gives when she is examining me up close...like three inches from my face. I have Rose Blanche and Dorothy...Blanche is my CA Grey. Ozzie and Harriet Lilly and Petunia and a bunch of other randomly named girls but those are my sets. :D
So I have that same fear! It seems that my group of chickens, especially the boys like to get up on my leg and they freak me out a bit with how intently they look at me. One quick peck and I won't have an eyeball.

How many people were there and what did they all bring?

At what age do I stop feeding chick food and start feeding adult layer food? They're just about 3 months old now.
