gotta love the first eggs!!

I am FINALLY, FINALLY turning the incubators off!! Turning off 1 until September and turning off the other until Aug 19th. I cant even imaginge.... nearly 6 weeks with NO chicks and by then my barn will be empty for the first time in over a year! Yippeee! And this year, there will be some self control somewhere. gonna find it. gonna grab it. and gonna hatch LESS!

What do you guys think? Can i do it? ha ha we will see.
I do not know if you can you hatch way more than a backyard chicken parent mine have been empty for 28 days and feels like everything is sorta off something is not right so I got some bantam Cochin eggs for my granddaughter's to put in the incubator it is really addicting I am going with no I do not think you will make it good luck but Aug 19th is not very far away have a great day you are the first one i ordered eggs from and I had a great hatch so that was the begining of my hatch craze so really I can blame it on you speaking of the eggs I got from you they are doing great and getting close to laying any day. My CCL are beautiful so are the Marans

I've been there in the past, I now avoid it too!

no incubators here (yet?), but today is day 21 for the silver campine eggs from Deb that are divided between TWO broodies (one still with the main flock, one in the extra pen by herself) -- will be checking all day for peeping sounds, i'm sure.

and in the meantime, two more have decided to go broody themselves -- one is a repeat, one of my two SPPRs who were both great moms, the other is one of the Amelias i got earlier this year from Ron. still deciding what to do with them (let them hatch my own mutt eggs, get some more pure-bred eggs, or try to break?)... and means of my original flock, eight have been broody this year (one twice), and only four haven't. got to love them heritage breeds!
