It could be heat. It is also mite season and they are old enough that they could be molting.

Good Morning Chicken People! I've been enjoying all the pretty photos of everyone's birds!
Sorry to hear about the chick
We've been housesitting for friends that have two labradoodles, a cat, a baby llama, and goats and two baby turkeys, and chickens, plus a banty rooster and a banty hen. What a week! The goats have escaped twice, the bantam hen and one turkey escaped one morning. Then, one night we came home from work and there was a dead baby turkey at the bottom of the stairs! One of the dogs must have either killed it and drug it into the house while we weren't there or found it and decided to bring it into the house. The other turkey was missing! It showed up the next morning, thank God! What a week!
Today we pack up here, go home, unpack, go to town and go shopping for backpacking food, go home, pack for backpacking and then we leave tomorrow for a week-long backpacking trip where we staff at a youth outreach. Probably have 70 teens going with us and maybe 20 staff.
If you believe in prayer we'd appreciate them for safety on our trip. We will be 30 miles from Foresthill, CA. on the North Fork of the American river.

Good luck with your backpacking! I just did a 56 mile backpack trip with my son's scout troop. It was tiring, but very fun!
Bel Air has organic peanut butter in squeezable packets. (think larger catsup packaging). It worked out really well with tortillas or pita bread. Also, cured salami and mozarella string cheese do not need to be refrigerated.
Thanks! Wow, that's a long trip! Ours isn't super long, but it's a 3,000 mile descent down seven shale covered switch-backs to the river.
Do you think Rayleys would have them?
3,000 miles is a heck of a journey... I'd love to know what you think IS super-long.... LOL!

LOL!!! That would be a super long hike. My (late) husband went on a week long hiking trip and he said chocolate was the #1 thing people wanted after a long hike, he took along a bunch of foods that didn't need refrigeration like Happy Chooks mentioned, hope you get lots of pictures to share with usLOL!
