California - Northern

My flock doesn't seem to be all that interested in the BOSS I offer. I find I do best if I mix it in their food but if I toss it out- they ignore it. Anyone elses chickens do this? I feel so out of the loop!

Have a missed any cool new chicken food/feeding trends, bedding, chicken care or anything while I've been 'away'? :D
Fermented feed is the rage. I am too lazy to ferment it feed. I gave up after several weeks.

There was news of Bar Ale coming out with a GMO Natural non soy non corn feed. I have not heard more about it though.

I've been wanting to try this so badly. But I don't know if I have stamina and pluckiness to see it through. lol

I mix BOSS, cracked corn and Super Scratch for mine, they eat the boss last. The wheat is the first to go.
I give mine a mixture of Boss, Kamut scratch and Kirkland cat food in the evenings. They eat it all!

Is the cat food for extra protein? I found a good quality act food at Tractor Supply that is grain free. I don't shop Costco anymore.
Yes, for animal protein. It has Salmon and fish meal in it. I do not give them too much because I am worried about the salt content. The size is small so even the littler breeds can eat it without too much trouble.

hehe How fun to read how many you have now! You started with a handful. Hooray for chicken math! Sounds like you have a bevvy of broodies and babies! FUN!

Hi! Is anyone looking for a blue ameraucana cockerel? I am a backyard keeper, and I cannot have a roo. He is from good lines. I can contact the breeder I got the egg from and give you specifics if you are interested. I need to have him rehomed by Saturday.
Thanks!
