California - Northern

I got the creles in an egg swap, in two batches. I hatched the first 5 a couple of months ago, so they are growing nicely. I hatched the rest of the swap yesterday, so I have a total of 13 of them now.

My SL polish originally came from Dick Horstman. I don't have eggs available from them right now because they are sharing a pen with my Olandsk Dwarfs. When I'm able to move birds around, I can set them back up into a breeding pen.
Oh boy, I will be watching for your Crele Orpington eggs next year!

I would love to see pictures of your silver laced Polish and Olandsk Dwarfs

New Polish chick with their bantam buff Columbian Brahma broody momma~ The one I thought was blue when it was wet, looks like maybe a crele? and it looks like there are 2 pure buff laced and 3 mixed color chicks. They are so spunky and fun to watch

Maybe juststruttin can help identify the color on the dark one since she has been working on the creles. Most likely this chick is buff laced x WC blue hen that has some cuckoo markings.

FOA, is this your grandbaby who is sick? Hope he's better soon.

Laura, so sorry for all your troubles.

I don't have climate control in my house. It can get very hot or cold and temps vary in the day & night during storage of eggs. I wonder if that might be one of the things that caused the large number of quitters in my hatching eggs?

DH sent me photos of the planes dropping retardant on the Rim Fire, yesterday morning. He texted me last night to say he was being sent into an area with no cell coverage.

A youngster

A cockerel at the Stockton show, his markings were pretty muddied, but he was the only one with any feathers at that time.

The only OD photo I came across, this was when I first brought them home.
They are beautiful! Thanks for posting the pictures!!

I will check back with you when you have them separated into their own breeding pens

Do roosters often get jealous and yank other roosters off the hens they're mating with?
Yes, and it is really stressful for the hens too. One rooster to 5 hens is the recommended ratio.

How exciting that you got your first eggs!! And two at the same time! Congratulations! And of course you will be posting pictures!

Can't wait for Ellie to start laying so I can see what color she lays!

So, sadly it may be time to think about re-homing my 11 week old BLRW cockerel, Napoleon. Hatched June 12. Anyone in No. Cal. interested before I consider a rooster rescue our feed store recommended? He has got the sweetest personality and is the most beautiful of his three siblings. He's obviously black (not blue) and has a lot of maturing left to do. The minute he crows though, I am going to have to move quick because I am in City limits.. Please PM me if you are interested.
