They're cute but very mean!
They can be sweet.

We had a raccoon named Pyewacket as pets when I was a kid. My mom bought him at the local pet store before the laws about keeping wild animals as pets changed. Pyewacket lived in the house with our cats and dogs but had to sleep in his cage at night or he would ransack our cabinets.

Pyewacket could come and go as he pleased and then one day stopped coming home. About a year later on a hot summer night my mom and dad were sleeping on the deck and my dad woke up with Pyewacket standing on his chest. He was as tame as ever and hung out with my mom. My mom looked over and noticed a family of raccoons standing off in the dark. Yep, Pyewacket had a family and brought them home to meet the parents. Unfortunately, that was the last time we saw him or his family. We left eggs and cat food out every night hoping he would come back but he never did.

So, when I see raccoons I know some of them are likely Pyewackets great grandkids and I would never be able to hurt them. My chickens are locked up at night so raccoons are never an issue. It is the daytime predators that are driving my crazy. I ended up catching 11 raccoons when I was trying to catch the bob cat. I started spray painting their tails because I had the hunch I was catching the same one over and over. Nope, I caught 11 different ones, and yes I did catch the same ones multiple times. One night, three coons managed to get stuck in the same trap. Poor kids.

I've got to get some pictures before I can place an ad, but if anyone is interested in a Blue Barnevelder rooster, please let me know.  He is a very sweet boy, great with people, kids and broodies with their babies.  Great flock protector as well.

I have too many roosters and I'd like to find this wonderful boy a great home if I can.

If you ever end up with an extra Wellie roo, please let me know.  I had a quad and the boy started crowing so had to go to the farm.  Somehow, he disappeared from the pen.  I have the 3 girls here and they are the sweetest pullets.  We aren't quite ready to set them up for breeding but I hope to in the spring.

I do have a couple of young wellie cockerels as well. I'd have to check their exact ages, but one is around 10 weeks and the other is around 6 weeks.

Lovely girl! She looks a lot like the young blue Langshan pullets that I have. I love their big, dark eyes!
They do have Langshan in them.

I will try to get a new picture today.

I'm not quite ready for one yet. I need to make sure the pen is secure before I put another one out there at the ranch. I could keep one here in town until he crows but that happened early for the one I had. I love my Langshan cockerels. They are slow growers but also late crowers!

Send me a PM when you are ready, and I'll see what I have. I will certainly have more come spring.

Thank you! Will do! My Wellies were hatched from eggs from the Stockton poultry show and I don't know where they came from. I do know that their legs are not very yellow so that's something that needs work.
