So my neighbor found the missing button quail, being eaten by her cat.

. So now I have one button quail, what do you do with one tiny quail? Is there anyone on here that has button quail that wants it? I put Ugly in a crate last night, and gave her olive oil soaked bread and water. I checked on her this morning and her crop was the same. When I got home from work I brought her inside, and was considering doing the crop surgery, because she was not looking good. I got everything ready and set up to do the surgery, and was carrying her over, and she died.

Poor thing. I wish I would have tried the surgery sooner. So I've lost 2 birds in one day.

That is so sad!

Go back a couple of pages and get the UCD Necropsy information.

Do use Fedex. USPS does not work well with UCD. We only get deliveries on MWF so the bird gets old before they can get to it.

Thanks guys!! I put the Ugly in the freezer (I'm not sure where to put her for now.) Can I still send her to UCD if she's been frozen? Chiquita, I was trying to get someone to take the one I have left. I can send it to you. (They kind of freak me out).

Sorry you lost the two. Hope you send her in to find out what it was.

Liz if your still awake put her in the fridge not the freezer freezing screws with the tissues.

Buttons hate me... We should send all of them to someone else together!

Like Chiquita said, get her into the fridge.

They can still do the necropsy but it is harder to tell what pathogens may have caused her to die. They can still tell mareks cancer though.

so i went ahead and candled the remaining no-pips eggs -- and while none smell, some DEFINITELY are clear, a few others have a solid dark mass inside but it's not large enough to be a fully-developed chick, and no sign of movement anywhere -- i'm pretty sure the two that hatched are going to be it.

thinking i might just turn off the incubator for now, and be glad that two hatched!
