Well I figured at the great auction price I would try them. The maraduna are so beautiful! I only bought a set of 8eggs so we shall see if I fall I love or not. Then ill go off the mountain in search of healthy flock mates. Ron has basque also right? Who else keeps these?

I have Basque. I love em. They are the best layers of all the breeds I keep.

I'm hoping to replace my hatchery layers with the basque. Seems like a better idea than raising sex links since mine are fizzling out.

I just grabbed a bin from cluckitall. I loathe shipping eggs and dont do it often anymore. But since I am just trying them out and the price was right I went for it.

Yes, I have Basque. I Hatched about 80 of them this year. They are at the egg farm in Winters. Next year I will be hatching more, mated with Megan's line. I have 4 Roosters that I hatched from her flock. One of them will be the breeder for the best 4 of the ones I hatched this year. I will have access to hatching eggs from them.

Good choice getting them!

I made sexlinks with my marans roo and barred rock girls. They're soon pretty and lay a nice big dark egg

Ron, how many chickens do you have?

I am hatching for an egg farmer and capayvalleychick. For Kim, they are her chickens. The egg farmer sets up a breeding pen using my chickens and then I hatch the eggs. We are trading for keeping the Roosters at his place so the chicks hatched are his, except that I get to pick the ones I want to breed.

Next season I will have access to hatching eggs from them too.

Yes, the Basque are great layers and Megan said the Pita Pintas are even better!

Does anyone raise barred rocks? My daughter really wants some, lol I think it's the barring she likes so Dominique's or cuckoo marans would work too. I'm liking my birds I hatch myself better than the hatchery ones I got last year

I have 2 olive eggers this morning. They may have been from my Easter Egger from Candy and my white empordanesa is the daddy. they will be blonde or buff. I have other eggs pipping too.
They are about 10 hours early. I hope they dont mess up the crepe penedesenca hatch and empordanesa.
Last set of eggs covered by Rocky and Whitey. I was hoping for a few more good ones.
