California - Northern

When did they ship. I like to ship Saturdays to land Monday seems to work the best for me.

That's the plan. I've never tried it but if they're here mon that's sooooo great!

I have to figure out a new indoor brooder idea though I cant seem to keep Lewey out of the brooder ugh.

One of our cats can open the garage door handle and keeps letting our charcoal lab out:-( but can't get into this brooder because if the snapping handle!

Ron I have a friend way up in northern washington that has partridge penedesenca if you want more.Nice ones too
I will need to get more in the future.

Please send contact information.

Thanks!

I had to stop, take a hard look at what I was breeding, and make some tough choices. I decided to stick with my bantam cochin calico and blue calico projects and let go of the Olandsk and the Japanese right now.

I am excited about the calico projects though, and hatched out the second generation of blue calicos in September. I have no idea whatsoever what they will end up looking like, but right now they are awfully cute little feather footed fluff balls!

So did everyone have a good summer?

If I ever go Bantam I want calico cochins...and maybe some nankins. Darling chicks!!!

Howdy Nor Cali's :p
hi there where are you?

so far today I have 10 little chicks hatched.
4 crele penedesenca ( 3 boys and a girl lol )
plus 6 Olive eggers

waiting on 10 more.
I am getting some huge eggs ( extra large to jumbo size) from my U of A's Ron and can not wait to set them. They are in with the White empordanesa now
Very exciting Jason....funny how I thought that July was late in the year to be hatching a clutch and now so many of us are hatching in October !

I will have the potential to be getting several random sex link combos from my New Hampshire roo over, Del girls, Ca Grey (cuckoo) and chocolate barred rock.

Do you guys think that using quality breeder stock will = healthier production girls with fewer issues than hatchery red stars?

These are my 5 week old Pita Pinta chicks
So pretty!

I saw chooklit today at the show,
What show? Paso Robles?

Does anyone know if Debs-flock is on vacation? I was hoping she might have an extra golden penciled hamburg boy but haven't seem any posts lately.
Yes. I have her schedule in my messages. She is going to be gone quite a bit in the next couple months.

We're in Redding and are looking for fertilized duck eggs. Ideally we would like khaki cambells, golden 300s, welsh harlequins, or buffs. My 10 yr old son wants to raise them to sell their eggs and possibly show them.
If you are interested in showing ducks, you might contact APA judge Walt Leonard aka fowlman01. I'm not sure if he raises those breeds but he does breed top quality ducks in Santa Rosa.
My UofA Blues are in Winters but the egg farmer says they are not laying. I bet he has them inside a dark pen. He needs to get light on them.
Mine has not laid any eggs for weeks and she is out on pasture. She must be molting but doesn't look it.

Should I disinfect my second hand genesis incubator? How?

The Bottom part can go into a dish washer. The top can be cleaned with Lysol all purpose cleaner--kills 99.9% of germs

Bleach can make the foam disintegrate. Use a q tip in the air holes in the bottom if you do not run it through a dish washer.

All of the parts can be purchased from GQF so if the bottom is messed up you can get a new one from them.

Do you want me to send a pdf manual for it?

That wind the other night blew a cover off our coop, one of those blue canvas ones. My chickens were eating the strings and I was chasing them away till I could get it picked up. Now today one of my Plymouth Rock's is all swollen in her breast, not eating, but drinking. I massaged it and water came out. I will watch her today. She is not moving much. I worry because I recently lost a chicken and I hope it is not the same.

I hope she passe the blockage without surgery though.

Good morning all.......

Have a question for you regarding a possibly sick pullet, possibly more than one.... or not.

I have a Polish that just layed the absolutely wateriest poo I have seen. I mean it was almost all water.

Also, I am using a poo board and there was a big area of a watery patch of wet sand/pdz/ It looked like someone dropped a glass of water there.

Anyway the one polish seems to be losing weight but she is out with the others. No other signs that I can really tell for sure.

I did also give them a flock block yesterday for entertainment, so that could possibly be the other digestive interruption, but this one particular girl is also losing weight and pretty quickly.

No blood or anything in any of the poo I see. Hers was just clear water.....I wouldn't be immediately concerned if she wasn't also losing weight. She was also acting a little spacey yesterday but she is Polish so I chalked that up to her not being able to see though her crest.

We have been at the new house a week now and they are still on the concrete section of the run. I have not yet let them out to any dirt areas. Did not notice poo of this type at all at the other house.

I have been searching for answers and I can't find much on it.....

I don't have any chemical cleaners. I have vinegar, peroxide, castile soap, citrus based cleaner... any of those work? I should buy some Oxine.
