Mine love to dig in leaves like that!

yes, they are SO happy this time of year, so much stuff to scratch through! plus the digging being done at the new coop site (setting the cinder blocks for the "foundation") is very popular.

and marans eggs will be on their way from Texas tomorrow -- hopefully i'll have a bit better luck with shipped eggs this time, too!

Ok so I have a chicken in quarantine with some others that has eye discharge sneezing and raspy sounding. I'm going to treat her with tylan and get her better but will she be able to ever go in with my other chickens? If not I may have to cull all 5 of the chicks in with her?

I hope she gets better soon!

Depending on what the illness is, you can put them back together. For some illnesses they will be carriers for life and you will either have to close the flock or cull the flock and start over.

Testing would need to happen to figure out what they have.

Up in Florence, OR, someone recently lost her entire flock to MG. All her SQ/BQ dark bra mas had to be destroyed, she even lost chicks that she had set from their eggs, they came out positive after hatch. That said, I would test to find out what it is before exposing to the rest of your birds.

Yesterday was a sucky day up here.
I found the baby pigeon dead in the morning, looked like they just squished it. Cupcake died late last night, she went to sleep in my lap and then she was gone. The skunk was outside the dog run last night and sprayed the garden cart when the dogs charged towards it when I let them out. The stink just kept invading the house all night.
