Have you considered treating them with Denagard?  http://www.denagard.com/vet-poultry/en/index.shtml  There are a lot of threads that talk about it and one of our BYC experts Dawg53 has recommended it.  Here are a couple of threads that talk about it:

Thank you do much. I ordered some for prevention. It doesn't say anything about eggs. Wonder if I have to toss eggs for a certain amount if time after giving the med?

The first link says there is no withdrawal period, but I would personally worry about any antibiotic use in eggs creating resistant bacteria in humans.

I would sacrifice one and send it in for necropsy so you know what you are dealing with.

If you treat with Denagard and it is a respiratory disease, they may improve, but will still be carriers of the disease to other birds. You would not be able to sell eggs or birds without passing it on to other peoples flocks.

All of them are quarantined. They have been since I got them. It's not in my flock. I would be using he denagard as a preventative. I've read the way a lot of flocks get the resp diseases is by other birds flying over

Well, I read an interesting comment today.

Someone was talking about getting rid of mites and lice in birds, and a guy who raises raptors and pigeons said NOT to use Ivermectin because it causes fertility issues.
I hasn't been studied in chickens, but his opinion was what they studied was close enough he no longer uses it. There is a thought for the morning...

Dawg53 says to not use Ivermectin for Lice and mites because is causes Round Worms to become resistant to it. Still the most common recommendation for lice and mites is to use Sevin.

Round Worms cause infertility so resistant worms may be causing the fertility problems the person was talking about.

Velly Intelestin... I will keep that in mind if I can't hatch any eggs next year. This year I did use Ivermectin and I didn't have any issues.. everything my broodies set on was fertile - darn it! Did he elaborate on what the issues were? I think both birds mentioned only mate in season, it might make a difference when it is applied and if it is long term or short term fertility issues.

Out of my Breda hatch, I got 7 chicks.

Two blues, four blacks, and one splash. I'm still trying to get decent pictures of them. They are so fast!

I bet they are very pretty babies!

Congratulations.

Sorry about your sick bird Ron.... how are they doing today? Chiqita how is the leg and breathing issue with the baby?

Corid seems to have helped everyone a great deal. The one that was not cooping herself up at night is back to normal. She slept in the house a few nights and seems okay now.

They are all still pretty skinny. Anything I can feed them to help them regain some of the lost weight? Their keel bone is pretty prominent. It is a keel bone right? Anyway their breast bone sticks out!

I don't know if it is coincidence or if they don't really like the food that I bought from Costco. It was that 40 lb sack of Organic Layer feed. They aren't eating as much of it as the other. I do have a flock block in with them now though and they pick at that regularly.

I have two solid squatters! Yay. One of the mean girls and the big black orp. Still waiting though........

I have what appears to be the head chicken and she insists on trying to eat my fingers.....? I chase her away because it is annoying, and then she comes back and does it again. Is she trying to be dominant?
