For me, They go down in badness from Soy Beans then corn and then wheat. Wheat is ok for them but too much causes watery manure.

All of the grains are ok for them but they have trouble digesting corn. Fermenting helps though. Soy Beans are toxic if the percentage is too high. Organic is better but still not great.

It is like fishmeal or flax--Too much Soy makes the eggs taste funny to me.

I have posted before about this. Do not feel bad if you live in a place where you can only get Flock Raiser or similar feed. The Chickens will be fine with it and it is better than Factory raised Poultry. I would try to get them some fresh greens though.

Ok. Thanks for saying. They are on organic layer soon to be switched to organic flock raiser ( rooster moving in) . I do not feed scratch anyway cause they get bales of alfalfa, tubs of table scrap greens and some carbs, and the girls give them boss to catch them;-) shells and de...

Meet Omelet (mystery hen--White Rock?), Curry (GLW), and Frittata (SLW)
Omelet may be a White Rock. The other choice--not likely--is White Australorp--She looks more like a rock though. She should lay nice brown eggs.

The lady I got them from says she lays a large light brown egg. I'm pretty sure they're hatchery stock--Curry and Frittata were $15 and 7 months (not quite laying yet) and Omelet was $8--she's older and finishing up molting.

Nice looking girls! We have an Omelet who is a golden sex link. She is not very big but lays one of our biggest eggs. We also have a silver laced wyandotte named Sterling. She lays a round, light brown egg.

I really think she is and Rock. The biggest detractor is the leg color but a lot of Hatchery Rocks have white legs. Australorps have grey legs and White Bresse have blue legs.

Her shape is close to a Rock. She is very pretty.
