Thanks Ron, ya her rear has no issues. So that crosses that off the list. Maybe it's just a hatchery bird with laying issues. But the one egg having the fishy smell is off-putting. Not confident it's the same hen(50/50 chance) Its not really bad, but I notice it. I did read that brown layers sometimes don't convert Omega oils well.

she may have eaten too many bugs along with the flax in the feed- that can cause fishy eggs too.

It probably is a hatchery egg laying issue. She may even have a reproductive cancer. It is very common as hatchery hens age.

Funny you guys are talking about this today. I am keeping an eye on Della again, she was acting like she didn't feel well, and her rear end looked wet and messy. When I picked her up what could have been egg goo plopped out...ick.. It was starting to get dark but ran inside to research what to do went back out to get her and give her a bath and she was running around like normal, ate her bedtime snack and today seems fine so far.

Not so much up for vent flushing but if I have to do it for her I will. Do I use a syringe? and has anyone used coconut oil as a lubricant for probing the vent? It is my go to for just about everything since it has so many healing properties.

Thanks Ron. That clears up a lot. I had all of these symptoms combined, when it sounds like separate things. She's my favorite, she never runs away and follows us all over. Even today when the other roo came along and was chasing her, she ran to me. He got the boot, lol! I think when they get sick and need help, they get even tamer. Which is hard. Usually I giver her some Calcium and she lays the egg within hours, so she's very tame. In the past my hatchery birds I've sold off when I got more. I don't think I can with this group. They are so friendly.
My husband said when they were in the flower bed throwing tan bark in the grass, that he was a little perturbed. But then when 14 hens ran up to him to say "hi", all was forgiven

Check on what to use as a lubricant. I know olive oil is bad--it can cause problems inside the vent.

Hopefully it is vent gleet and not eggs breaking inside. That is usually fatal. Vent Gleet is curable.

Okay so Ron, I think you are probably the closest to me how do I get on that list? I really want some of those Silver Penciled Wyandottes and a couple of Sultans...... Maybe even some of the Black Sumatras......

Now the question is how many to get to get a hen out of each breed?

3 should do it right? 3 of each? That is a total of 9 chickens again!

Where do I get sand bags? I have rain running into my coop area getting the shavings all wet. I think my cement slopes that way so it is "draining" into the one side of my coop! I knew there would be logistical and repair issues once the rain started, but I didn't think the light rain we have had would already be causing issues.....
