Are any of y'all going to attend the Amador Youth Poultry show on Saturday?

It will be the first poultry show we have ever attended. My daughters are entering 5 birds total: French Cuckoo Maran Cockrel, 2 bantam Lavendar Ameracaunas, 1 bantam Lavendar Cockrel, 1 bantam White Leghorn Cock

In the future, they'll enter some of our Jersey Giants. But right now they're at that awkward stage.

I have been getting several of them in the last few weeks. I only have 2 hens laying right now so I have only been getting 1 normal egg a day. I still use the shell-less ones if they don't break and eat them before I get to them. I started on fermented feed this week with them and got my first egg with a shell from that hen today. It was thin, but had a shell! They have been getting oyster shell all along so not sure if the FF feed is responsible or if she would have laid a more normal one anyway....
Have you checked(float test from a Vet) or treated for worms?

It is normal to get a couple soft ones after a Molt but a bunch is not normal.

I hope the fermented feed helps!

Beautiful birds! Hope your girls have fun! Do you have Jersey Giants from a breeder? I have a friend who has been looking for some for quite a while. She has a beautiful roo and is looking for a few more pullets/hens for him.

Sorry Petrock. My JG's are from Cackle. I wanted to make sure I liked them before I infested more time and money. I do believe they are looking large and healthy. But, I've never seen another JG in person. When
I see a quality one, I may really see the difference. They're only 4 months old right now, but larger than ally other birds.

My friend's roo came from a breeder and he is huge! She sends her extra cockerels to the same farm that I send my birds to. The only way we easily can tell her JG boys from my black Langshan boys are by the feathered legs on the Langshans. Langshans are one of the source breeds for JGs.

can worms cause shell less eggs? I had 1 hen doing it every day for a while. Then it stopped. I got 1 last week. Or its still regular and my agg eater is getting them. I got one of those girls but someone else is doing it still -_-

Yes. Worms mess up nutrition.

It is a good idea to test and treat if worms are found.

A quick way to get extra calcium is to add some food grade DE to their food.
