The Amelias(Cream Legbar x Crele Penesesence) that were molting have started laying again and the eggs are really nice!

It is amazing how big the eggs are for such little Hens(yes, my babies are all growed up!)

65 and 66 Grams:

I went out and measured pelvic bone space on the old girls that just finished molt, only 1.5 fingers. When laying they are large to extra-large

Off topic question. I know I can't feed whole trout to my dogs or cats because of the bones. What about chickens? We have an abundance of trout in the freezer. I don't mind a one time trout feed for my family but this is just waaaay to much trout! A friend cleaned out her freezer and gave it to my hubby. Then my son caught about 30 fish while camping and it ALL came home. SO, can the chickens have raw whole trout?

Yes, they can eat it. Too much will make the eggs taste fishy.

I have given mine left over rabbits and etc. They pick the meat off of the bones.

Here is the new family! One splash marans, 1 jubilee x (possibly CL, I'm thinking so with the markings) and 6 Bresse. Let them out with the whole flock and everything went well. The others came up to check them out and no issues. They looked really close then went on their way. Dad seemed pleased. But mom and babies are back in their own pen now. She just started laying in Sept, and making a good mommy.

Edith has decided she'd rather be a teenage mother than lay eggs...

She just started laying a few weeks ago, but now she's taken to sitting on golf balls. I locked her in a wire bottomed cage for three days, but she's back at it now that I've put her back in the coop.

i've got a teenaged SFH who's in the same situation -- started laying 2-3 weeks ago, now acting broody -- although not definitively, right now she's out and about with her gang -- waiting to see if she goes back in...

They look very nice!

Bresse are really tough little things too.

Thank you, I will limit the fish to 1 x weekly treat for a while then. No one wants fishy eggs

Thank you!

My girls love meat. They chow on mice or unhatched quails. Or anything they can get their beaks around really. I bet they will eat some fish bones but it should be fine.
Chrissy they look happy! I'm glad she accepted everyone. I have a jubilee who was hiding a nest...of nothing. I think I will see if she will accept chicks I don't know how long she has been sitting.

The wind damage pictures are sad and impressive. We are in a little gully here safe from the wind so we don't feel it as much.
