I am trying to get some black penedesenca eggs out here by the new year

nope, flying from SFO to Chicago to White Plains, NY, crossing the Hudson to my sister's place, and then reversing the journey a week later.

I actually did think of taking my sister some eating eggs, but wasn't sure what the airport security would make of them -- so leaving them for the housesitters!

this is actually my first time leaving my home for more than a day or two since i first got chickens -- it will be strange to be away from them for 8 days! the baby chicks will be so big when i get back!

Breese have a thick skin. You have to be more aware of how you are cooking it for it to turn out delicious. It is traditionally cooked in ways that don't set the skin off.
But the are amazingly tasty! And surprisingly friendly.
Pina pitas are a Spanish gourmet chicken. I don't have them but they seem like I have great stories.

They(pp's) are rare in other areas meg is one of the only breeders in the country.
I love my Bresse babies! So darn friendly. They'll let me pet them when they're eating, while they're marans sister (it's GOT to be a pullet) freaks out. And they just see me and come running (They're expecting mealworms!) The whole time the little marans squaks if i get too close. It makes it easy to round them up when they're tame. Even giving meds are easier on a tamer bird than one who thinks you're trying to kill it, lol

They are very friendly. Marans are very standoffish for sure.

What a silly kitten!

You need to get some Pita Pintas, right @PetRock ?
She does need some PPs! I am looking forward to having a brooder full of both breeds. Both breeds are so friendly as chicks. I have a group of 6 chicks (5 Bresse and 1 mix) that are around 8 weeks old. They follow me around the yard like I am their mama. I love them!

@Meg2000000 has them now. @PetRock may have them next Spring to Summer.
I have 2 cockerels and 7 pullets that are 16 weeks old right now. I am thinking about getting another batch of eggs from Megan while I am waiting for mine to mature enough to breed.

Moving is so depressing! We are moving to Mountain Ranch, CA about 12 miles from San Andreas. I want to comment in the Northern California section if I can. I may be considered Central CA. I dont know if its important or not.

Let me know if Megan has any now. I want to hatch more too.
