California - Northern

Yep, mine are a lot darker than they were. Ron, I sent a PM to Megan to ask about eggs. I asked her to put us both on her egg list. The more we talk up this wonderful breed, the more people will contact her for eggs/chicks. I wanted to make sure we were on the list!

Thank you very much!

This time when I hatch them, I need to make sure I keep all of the pullets.

Moving is so depressing! We are moving to Mountain Ranch, CA about 12 miles from San Andreas. I want to comment in the Northern California section if I can. I may be considered Central CA. I dont know if its important or not.
Mountain Ranch is kind of neat with its hills

This is a Cockerel.

Juvenile chicks

A bit older

Older pullet with a Basque Hen

Recently hatched chicks.

They come from the Asturia region of Spain and are also called Asturian Paints.
I love these chickens! Spotted chicks are awesome! Oh dear... I don't have any of these. I was fine until I saw these pics!

It is better than that! Your get to use the UCD Fedex account and get a discount on shipping--Do not us USPS! Use Fedex.

UC DAVIS

UC DAVIS FEDEX INFO: Their account # is 364343981. If you use their account number you will get to use UC Davis's discount which is up to 70% off. They said that they will bill you for the shipment after you get the report (or at the same time.) Also, FedEx and UPS both ship to the actual lab every day... the Postal Service doesn't.

Thank you! So I posted when our 3rd chick (out off 17) had died. My son had already disposed of it. I was disinclined to exhume it. Since then none have died. Even the ones I thought were going to! We have just flooded them with immune builders. The most recent was boiled eggs with LOTS of freshly crushed garlic stirred in. Perhaps the garlic did the trick? At that point I was in the cure or kill method.

I will save all this information and if one dies, I'll follow through and send it in. I hate not knowing what I'm dealing with. I guess if all the rest don't get sick that we just had a good example of natural culling.

I just looked up that post this morning! Something is off with my laying pullet, an EO. She's not acting any different, but her droppings have been weird for a week. Watery sometimes, runny other times. Her butt is looking really dirty. Half a baggie of chicken poop is headed to Davis today! Hopefully it's nothing...

How did I get 142 posts behind in one day?

Anyway I wanted to send a quote note asking if anyone near me wants me to grab them a couple of bags of the King Freedom Layer?

I finally got in touch with someone Herne Co. and she is going to deliver me 2-3 bags on Monday since she will be in the area. I will gladly get some more if anyone wants it.

She is trying to get Western Feed all worked out but she didn't really say why they don't have it in stock.. she thought by the end of January they would. Everywhere else she gave me is pretty far away from me. But since she is going to be in my area she is trying to keep her customers and will deliver it since she will be in the area.

Here is the most recent list of who is carrying it kind of close to me, but not really.

"Most recently Livermore Feed and the Concord Feed stores started carrying the crumble form of he product. Novato Feed carries both, and any of the An Jan stores can get it (they get a delivery from King Feeds every Monday) though they may not be stocking it right now. Also, the Robinson's Feed stores in Lodi, Galt, and Lockeford are carrying it."

Just thought I would throw that out there.

Let me know.

I called Western Pet in Davis and they told me that King Feed will be back in a month.

I would treat with Wazine or ivermectin.

UCD is entering it's holiday schedule so results may be delayed.
