Hi Everyone.... just checking in. Saying HI and Happy New Year!

I have been watching Ron's Hatch along when I can. I so wish I could have done it this year There is another coming up right? When is the next one usually? Easter?

So sorry for the chicken losses. I hate to see that and especially at the hands of people! WTH?

I am going to Disneyland in early February and now I am not sure who I am going to have to watch the chickens. Maybe what I will do is set up two people so that for sure one of them will do it right?

I will only be gone about 5 days total. I could potentially have enough water and food in there that they wouldn't need to be watched but the eggs would be a mess or sure! I have one broody Welsummer! Dang it! I am NOT hatching any chicks right now, but when I reach under her for any eggs it sure is nice and toasty under there.

Anyone have the Trader Joe's chickens here? What is their temperament?

I hatched them and they were normal white leg horns. Not too flighty.
 
Ron, did egg 7 hatch? I was watching it on your hatch cam but missed the end of it.

Yes it did!

It hatched after 3:30 last night. I woke up and checked--It was half way zipped.

The web cam fell off no one saw it. Those chicks are very popular little Internet stars now....

I will work on getting the video on Vimeo later today.

I was surprised that the last egg was still going!

All 7 of the fertile ones hatched. I am keeping the Cockerel visits up so those eggs should still be fertile too.
