Just for my clarity; this would be great so that one could test day old chicks for the brown gene rather than wait to see what color they lay?
without testing, you would have to grow out the cockerel and then hatch eggs by mating with a blue egg layer to see if he had the blue gene. Then you would have to wait until pullets he sired started laying. It saves a couple of Generations of chickens for time.

Yes, blind dating, lol!

Yes, but its chicken speed dating, so except for the old timers who frown on BYC and backyards ( there are a LOT of them stockton is serious bizness) the chicken part does not get you in trouble.

I answer to chiquita, demo, and nofishies in public. I now ONLY use those names online so I don't end up with any more handles to answer to!

Does anyone have a link to the words old timers hate? I need to brush up on my chicken vocabulary ( stag stag stag, cockril cockril cockril...) thank god they cant see my spelling when I talk.

Yes forgot about vocab.

What!

Let me know how to get this done!(genetic test for blue genes).
That is crazy! And only $15?? That is great news that this can be done. Saves lots of time experimenting and test hatching

Just remember that one blue gene still means you will get chicks with white shells. It's only double blue genes that are a sure thing.
