Would I sound too much like a redneck if I thought you could take a heating pad sandwiched between two layers of chicken wire and wood framed on the edges? Haven't thought about how to make the height adjustable yet.

Day 8 candling of Marans over Marans. What does this mean?
Aliens have landed!

Were they shipped? If so watch that egg for seeping. Those could be cracks but hopefully you are seeing a calcium deposit or maybe a scratch in the brown coating.

They came all the way from my backyard. The egg feels and looks secure. On day 8, one hen has had 6 of 7 duds. But this particular hen is 5 for 5 if this egg stays good.

last spring I hatched out a Buff Orp mutt chick and now she is broody! She is my uncle and aunt's and I am kinda sorta totally excited about it. They live right behind us so I am going to be helping advising etc. First on the agenda is to candle the eggs she is on see if any of them are fertile.
She has been on the nest about 10 days so I should be able to see stuff for sure!

I'm supposed to make breakfast for our out-of-state family that is staying at our house. My husband is capable of doing it w/o me but I don't think it would be a nice thing to do to him.

Bad temptress, I am
