So today my two Serama cockerels that were raised together got into it so now I have to separate them the top dog bit the other one's comb and it bled like crazy ugh. So now I need another coop lol. I have my new trio in a Costco coop and they seem to be ok in there.

 I was drooling over the Sportsman cabinet incubator that they had at the show.  They dropped the price to $749 mid afternoon but that is still too pricey for me.

oh me too! Then I realized one was a hatcher and one the bator with turner. Nice though!

I enjoyed putting a face with the name and hopefully I gave you some useful advice. This is my club show, so I get  crazy busy there. We were also have the APA qualifying meet for the Ko Shamo bantams so I had a lot of balls in the air. If I ever mention entering 60+ birds in a show again please someone shoot me in the head. It is always great to win a big prize with a runner duck, as it is one of the few breeds that are tested on performance (Station) by running them in a group. We had best and res light duck with the Runners.

There were people there that I didn't even see the whole day. I finally have the birds put away.........

oh congrats Walt! That is awesome you know I saw so many people and wondered if any were from the forum. We really need name tags next year. It would have been fun to meet more people from here.
You have ducks too?? Chiqita has me getting interested in ducks now. Looking at some good laying breeds. I started at 15 birds now I'm at 30+ and hatching. Now ducks are interesting

I loved the blue Jersey Giant pullet.  Her lacing was incredible.

My eggs usually hatch better with a drier incubation and moderate humidity at hatching.

 I know you say you relax about humidity, but do you know what numbers you are talking about?
Also would like to know about hatching in cartons.

I have a thermometer / hydrometer. Humidity has dropped down as low as 20% durning the middle. I don't have an issue with that because Barnevelder eggs generally don't loose humidity as much as some other breeds. I will sometimes bump up the humidity to 30-40 if I candle at 14 days and the air cells are getting to big. At hatch I add a little water to get the humidity up to around 60% and then the wet newly hatched chicks raise the humidity even more. These are my eggs and I hatch a lot. I have had more problems over the years with higher humidity, so I do modified " dry" hatches. If I was hatching expensive shipped eggs I might pay closer attention.

I have found that eggs that have been incubated in a rather upright position in an auto turner hatch better up right in cartons. They also don't get rolled around while hatching by other chicks.
