I like to wait a month generally. I just had cabin fever lol and figured id sell the chicks locally if need be, with the crele its easy to tell if they are crele or mixed with black
Hey Jason,

FYI... I got an email from a guy named Tyson looking for Creles. I did not have your email, so he will be pm'ing you. He is looking for chicks and a good rooster for his girls. He is in Oregon so I am not sure if you would be willing to ship or not.

No chicks....
So sorry that they didn't hatch.

ok thanks. Not live birds but can ship eggs

the nice thing with crele is it will be simple to tell as they will be brown or lighter. If the rooster is black they will be darker black or blackish brown with a head spot.
I wanted to wait another few weeks but could not help myself.
I am sure the ones going in the room will be.

Be careful about discussing this. A lot of breeders have been using a two week rule for a lot of years and do not want to think about the idea that they may have had mixed up breeding.

The problem with the theory that the new pushes out the old is that there is no pressure involved in chicken mating. It is not like other animals. The Rooster has no appendage. It is a splash and take kind of thing LOL.

Make sure that the breeder you get hatching eggs has not waited only a week LOL. Something to watch out for since, to me, it is deceitful to sell them knowing there may not have been enough time to make sure the old Rooster has cleared.

In years past I have had am seed show in my Barnie hens 21 days after removal from my property. Dang sure he didn't walk 12 miles to see the girls... Perhaps it depends on the strength of each cockerels " deposit" idk but if I need to say pure I wait 1 1/2 - 2 months. But your just doing test hatches and crosses and sounds like you know your birds very well. I look forward to picking up a few :-)

Soggy morning in the runs. Finishing up worming my 2013 girls had to move the waterer under the coop where it is taking up prime drip free real estate. But they don't seem to mind.

Laying has picked up...by picked up I mean that it has gone from 3/17 to 8/17 the last couple of days. So from pathetic to OK

I think Jamie Lee Curtis laid her first but it is possible that Joan Baez laid one on two consecutive days and we missed the first. Anyway, two Dorking eggs day before yesterday so that was good!

@ronott1 or @PetRock I am going to be ordering MJ hatching eggs but still would love to pick up some PP eggs from you when the time comes can I go on a list. Pet Rock I also would love Splash Langshan either pure or mixed with Bresse. Both of you should put a question mark next to my name b/c I don't know when I will ready...can't trust your special eggs to a first timer you know.

Also hope to get Isbar and Birchen Marans and maybe Silver Campine from @lawatt

Planning for chicks makes me happy but I wish I didn't have to wait for someone who wants to be a mama.

I let Norma and the Dorkings out because they have more access to cover when they aren't in the pen...only room for 1 under the kennel/coop and Norma has that staked out. Now I see them in the carport hanging out on DH's 67 Firebird. Luckily it has a cover.

I just reread this and I sound like a boring chicken lady...like one of those mothers of newborns who loves to talk about spit up and what she thinks her 5 week old will be as an adult..

Ahh im anxious my eggs go into lock down tomorrow and im worried they wont hatch. the EE hasnt shown much devolpment theres just like black taking up half the space of the egg and the RIR and orpinton cross egg was a double yolk but now only has one so im kinda worried Dx someone give me some positive advice that both of them are still living

Lotus here. Anyone in the Placerville area with Phoenix's or other fancy/rare breeds and or waterfowl? I'd like to get my hands on some eggs to load the bator.

The result of my first hatch. I put 8 in lockdown. One didn't look like it was developing quite right so I didn't expect it to hatch. Another looked to be saddled originally. So I knew there was the possibility for those 2 to not hatch but I don't REALLY know so I set them anyway.

6 hatched! 3 FBCM x CLB and 3 CLB (2 girls and 1 boy). The three crosses leave to their new home today and my husband wants me to keep the CLB's. :) I'm trying to keep my flock #s down but if he wants to keep them I better (that's rare).

I'm concerned about my Serama eggs. They have 7 more days. I hope the high humidity, opening the bator, and fluctuation in temps didn't ruin them! :/ they are who I want the most.... But I am stoked to have had any hatch let alone all the ones that looked to be right.

Thanks again for all the advice and links on here! :)
