Good luck on the Valentines day hatch @chickee

Gonna take advantage of the break in the weather and take the soggy walk out to empty the poo trays.

My aunt's broody is in day 11 so more than half way there. Will candle for the second and last time on Thursday

the eggs she is sitting on wouldn't be special to anyone else...the only "pure" one may be from my hatchery Del but it could just as easily be a hybrid, still I hope it all goes well. Pretty sure we are due some girls.

I have Berry muffins in the oven and freshly brewed Blueberry Kiwi tea. After lunch I plan on cleaning coops.

We will see how far I get!

I have never bathed a chicken before. Just a quick rinse when someone gets poo on their backs

I still don't see why there are no studies on chickens. Years ago I found the same situation when I was on poultry connection chicken site. Only personal experience but none of the drugs have had studies on poultry. It's not like they haven't had the time. I guess it's a $$ thing. Quite frustrating. After all these years, they know it's used on poultry

It is very frustrating and scary since most of the drugs that are sold in the feed stores are not recommended for layers, yet they are widely used anyway with unknown effects.

i know. Im not sure mines going to get done today. I may just go pull the shavings out of the 2 smaller coops and pile them in front for now lol and add more, The coops with sand are kinda wet so I can clean them quickly tomorrow evening once they dry out better.

I was able to clean my coop thankfully it stopped raining and the sun almost came out lol.

Learned something very interesting today.

Storage prolongs incubation time. For each day an egg is stored the incubation will be delayed by one day. Therefore, a 10 day old egg will take 10 hours longer to incubate than a newly laid egg. If you want your eggs to develop at the same time, it is best to set old eggs a few hours before fresh eggs.
