There is a woman in Napa who states on her website that she sexes with 90% accuracy.  Not sure if she would be willing to teach others but it might be worth asking.

It looks like she is no longer selling chickens, but her site is still up.

Here is a link to her website:

The cynic in me says...
If she was sexing with 90% accuracy she qould be selling chicks.
Im a bad bad person.

I've got two extra days of work this week! I think next paycheck will be brinsea octagon 20 Eco!

In the spirit of valentines day, I got to school, pulled into a spot, & before I even could put my parking break on I dumped my pb&j out of my brown paper bag & got sick... stress maybe?

oh & here's my pollitos.

They were in the middle somewhere when they quit. They did not make it to day 18. Look at reasons for stopping at day 12 is. There may have been a temperature spike or temperatures may have been too high or too low.

My guess is too low. What is your incubator? Do you have a Brinsea spot check to check temps?

Walt,

I'm with you on that! I also raise Gouldian Finches, which have long had a reputation of being very "delicate" and difficult to raise. There are many people who think they require a very narrow range of temperatures (usually in the 70-75 F Range) and will still die at the drop of a hat. They advise having a very wells stocked medicine chest and many people keep them on antibiotics all the time. I have been raising them for about 8 years now and rarely treat them for anything other than Air Sac Mites. Mine live in outside flights in temperatures that range from the upper 20s in the winter to over 100 in the summer. I do offer them a heat lamp to use if the feel they need in the coldest part for the winter, but they do not use it that much. I have nearly 40 juveniles in an outside flight right now and only lost 1 when the temperatures dipped in to the upper teens in early December. Because they are used to the range of temperature and are rarely medicated they do great out side. I don't have to worry about selling them and having them die in a short time because the new owner let the temperature dip a few degrees below whet they are used to or did not keep the antibiotics going. I try to do the same with my chickens. They do get treated for parasites, but I have not had a sick one so far since I have had them for the last 2 years.
Tell me, how do you treat them for air sac mites? Just curious...

I have bad tidings . I am showing signs of preterm labor this past week. (Not uncommon for me- trying not to stress) but when my husband found out about the trip he ixnayed my plans. "Going off the mountain without me AND the midwife in wood fords ! No way" He is being reasonable I understand... I just feel really bad to cancel on you. I can PayPal you a compensation for holding this week for me. Please let me know.
Be careful when you eggtopsy ( when you get to it) the plastic Baggie Ron mentioned is much of importance . Sloshy is not good , you are right:-(
What a picture you just painted . So funny!

Candelaria, I'm so sorry to her that you are in labor all ready. I have some experience with that as well. My daughters were 24 weeks and 29 weeks at birth. How many weeks are you? You said you had a June due date?
