Today is day six for the UofA Blues, OEs and Partridge Penedesenca eggs so of course I candled them already.

There are a lot of veins in the UofA Blues! They are very easy to see into. I also see darkness and not much glowing in the Penne eggs. I even think I saw something moving in a couple of them.

Tomorrow I will do a more thorough candling and will double candle the Pene eggs.

:fl  I hope all of the hatches go well!

I also wish hatching luck to all! I am getting duck eggs today. It is a first time shipper so I am nervous.

I have been getting egg referals and am getting tired of cutting bubble wrap. Im debating between the pouches and going back to home depot for pipe insulation. Do I remember something bad from the great egg shipping experiment about the pouches? I am also saving up for after eadter plastic eggs for serema and silkie eggs. My best hatches were from those.

Yeah for veins!! Hope they all go well too!

I pulled one sloshy Mottled AM egg yesterday and one sloshy OE this morning. They had both been under the broody. The AM had a very early death....embryo was about the size of a pea. The OE had no development at all. So I have 3 AM and 6 Marans under the broody and 4 OE, 5 AM and 5 Marans in the 'bator. Hope they all make it! Hatch date is the 28th...

You put the bubble wrapped egg inside a plastic easter egg. It is fantastic if the egg closes so so if it wont close all the way and you tape it. It is like a box in your other box for each egg.

Tell me more abut the plastic Easter Eggs.  I have never heard of that before....

I used the pipe insulation with the LED flashlight I already had.  It worked MUCH better than without it.

Im a bit klutsy and have been known to drop eggs when on soft things. The hard plumbing thing holds the tip of the eggs so I am unlikely to drop it with a jostle.

Pouches are fine as long as the egg go big end up in the box.

If you use foam egg inserts, make sure you use the one that cushions the egg from shock. One of them does not.

I do like the pipe insulation too.

@ozexpat would be a contact for the correct one to use.

The eggs are bubble wrapped and then put into a plastic easter egg to protect it from vibration and shock. It seems like a great way to pack smaller eggs like seramas.

Marans would not fit though....they are too large.
