Empordanesa are very food thrifty as well. Big combs though. Very alert and lay dark eggs,
I have white which along with a few other flocks are it here in the US.
I want to bring over Blue tail buff if i can get the import worked out.

I'm not sure about the heat . We only have a week or so of that!

so this time it looks like 8 of the 10 crele penedesenca x silver ameraucana eggs are growing. I could not candle the dark empordanesa eggs with my small headlamp and I have not ordered a new candler yet.

I had heard the same thing, but I had OD for a summer and they did surprisingly well in the heat. On the really hot days I had to hose down the Orps and Sulmtalers pens because they had raised wings and were panting, but the OD seemed fairly comfortable. I am glad to hear they do so well in the cold considering they are not very heavily feathered. They are pretty cool little birds.

I will email her Liz & see what she says. Thanks....I am thinking shwas looking for butcherbirds because she lives in town & can't grow out roosters, but to be truthful, I am not sure so will check.

I can grow them out until they start crowing and then that's it

Hi Laura,

You can come to my house in about 3.5 weeks to learn. We will have 30+ roosters ready. Poor boys. I am hoping to find homes for some of them before then but I certainly cannot keep feeding brutes. Most are Orpingtons so they are getting mighty big.

Anyone else who wants to come to learn is welcome. The more the merrier. I am in Novato.

Just curious: on the jubilee orpingtons there's the GFF lines and the Gisbrecht's Line. I've seen Gisbrecht's Line for $65/chick and GFF for I think it was $25 or $30. Just wondering why. Can anyone educate me?
