Quote: The other 2 Marans chicks are out now. It's funny how some pip and then sit there for ages before they progress any further while others pip, zip and hatch in no time! I am still waiting for the other AM and OE that pipped this morning to start zipping but the are taking a really long break. I can hear them in there peeping so I know they are still alive. The must be trying to make me crazy!

I have never had this problem with a hatchery . this is a first
Have you ordered this time of year when the weather was this cold? This is a record breaking year for cold weather and they are in Missouri and that is quite a way to come in the cold....plus there was the delay in Reno.

@Chickengirl1304 .......Did you see the eggs are hatching? So far 3 Marans and 1 OE from you. 2 more Marans are pipped and starting to zip and another OE is pipped. 3 more Marans in the Bator and 2 under the broody. 2 more OE in the bator.....

@deann i looked on your site to see the video chrissy mentioned and i was only able to watch a few seconds of it before it made me sick to my stomach. when i extra roos i either find homes or humanely kill them and they are then used for food. i ciuld never do that to a chick. those people are heartless

I watched the video once and that was enough for me. After seeing that video, I vowed to never buy another bird from a hatchery that offers sexed chicks again... that was 4 years ago. The method of dispatching of the males in most hatcheries is despicable.

I understand some people cannot have roosters however I think people need to realize that getting sexed pullets comes at a terrible cost.

for your could be duck addicts, there are call duck eggs on the WYGS. SOO CUTE SOO LOUD!!! SO EASY TO KEEP IN CAGES WITH PONDS!

If only I could find an extra million laying around to by the 50 acre place up the way...
ENABLER!!!
Shantih, these people need help. You can't just go and get them all excited about a new bird that they clearly have no room for. Next thing you know there will be pens being built across Northern CA. Not to mention these fine people with full incubators already, starting a panic because they don't even have incubator room….

On another note: I'm gathering eggs for my next hatch. (How ironic after my rant

Some were really muddy and I washed them today. with that manna pro egg wash ( i think it is). I just can't put nasty eggs in the incubator, i'm afraid i'll introduce bacteria. am I wrong?

Ron, you must be having some wild weather up there in Woodland! We just heard that you have a tornado warning for your area. Be safe!

We are ok! The Tornado was 6 miles away form us.

I did have a bunch of wind and pounding rain though.
