Thanks.
I had 3 broody hens hatching a mix of different eggs (Basque, Swedish Flower, & Cream Legbar):

This is a Barred Rock mama (she had Swedish Flower & Basque chickies)

And this is my white silkie with her Cream Legbar peepers

They are doing so well! And Mom is not trying to kill you! That is a very good Brody.
On a good note though all the rest of our hatchery chicks are doing good and growing.

That is good News! I hope you have a nice one for the Fair this summer too.
I love that!

And lamb from hair sheep breeds tastes totally different from wool sheep lamb. Hair sheep are only raised for meat, so the meat quality has always been a priority in selection - hence better tasting lamb from hair sheep. The extra lanolin in wool breeds also affects the flavor, making it have that unique taste of lamb that makes so many people not like lamb. Hair sheep lamb almost tastes like mild beef. Even if you have never liked lamb, it's worth it to try locally produced lamb from hair sheep - just to taste the difference. It's the only lamb that I like.
Ron, I didn't tell you that it's best if it's a little rare. My son overcooked his and didn't like it. I like using lemon, lemon pepper, garlic & wine.
I was hoping that you would enjoy it.
Yes, I like lamb on the rare side. 140 was perfect for it and it went very nicely with Braised Broccoli, baked potatoes and Salad.

Don;t let the lure of "Building it cheaper" fool you, My husband talked me into a 10' x12' shed that would be way cheaper then buying one pre-built for about about $2500. It ended up costing us about $5000-$6000. It has steepled roof with a weathervane, fish scale siding on top, oak floors, an interior loft, a ceiling fan, custom made concrete countertops and sink, built-in cabinets...oh and a rock foundation, sliding barn-type door in addition to the main door and a ramp. Here is a picture of it in the snow before the chicken pen/coop were added in the space to the left.

Love it!!!

Very cute... I'm jealous, all you guys and gals have fancy purebred chickens and chicks, all I ever have are mutts!

We can do something about that!

hey, folks, this is a SERIOUS issue -- if this antibiotic has been banned for use in poultry, you really shouldn't be using it.  we have enough problems with antibiotic resistance, do not need to do ANYTHING that could contribute to making it worse!

Yes I noted that. The people posting it have peas and such I think. I read it as anything that ever will be for human consumption. There are chickens in my house whos eggs will never be eaten . The issue is it getting into us right? Or is it creating resistant bugs?

Liz good on you! You go on the changes in the laws!
Kim and ron and lamb people I eat a lot more lamb since we got the sous vide. You take tough cuts and cook them at medium rare temp for 4-5 hrs. It breaks the sinew and collagen down so its very tender but still is medium rare . But it still has that tougher cut meat taste. Awesome!
Beautifulchicks and broodies everyone. Giving everyone spring feaver!
