I hope the friendliness genes get passed on. Yesterday I let the pullets out so that I could clean and move their tractor pen and one of them walked up the back of my leg!

My middle daughter saw one of them outside the sliding glass door, so she opened up the door and was able to pet it. They are by far the friendliest and quietest chickens.

My 6 week old PP/Langshan mix chicks sure have the friendliness gene! As soon as I open the brooder door, I get mobbed by 6 of them, 4 Bresse, and 1 RIR! I have to be careful not to step on them!

As I am sure you know ....a computer GEEK....I am NOT......and a terrible typist to boot !!!! I probably come off totally illiterate.......LOL
So...................... I have noticed a lot of people don't fill out profiles. I usually try to look members up to find out where they are & what their interests are before responding to the posts. It had been so long since I went to my own profile that I just checked it out. It is really outdated but all the info I gave is listed as an article..................Is that right??? Another thing............again I am showing my ignorance.....what is an ovation? I get notices that I have them but don't know what to do about them................LOL Now remember folks I have proved an old dog (chick) can learn new tricks.....LOL

How many felt the Earthquake?

I felt last night's--first time I've ever felt an earthquake, though I've had lots of people (after the fact) tell me that there'd been one that I hadn't felt... And it may have awakened my 10-year-old last night, but she fell back asleep, so she's not sure.

Ovation is an odd one even though. The intent is to encourage us to post helpful posts. Some use it as a like button which lessens the impact of the ovations. Some people can give more than one ovation point per ovation too. Those that can do that are like the Great and Powerful OZ! They are great Wizards of BYC!

I got an ovation from Nifty and my count jumped 5!

The big server switch a couple of years ago let the site add some new "features" The Ovation is one of them along with the @sewandgrow feature that will send an email to the person quoted.

Some of the old content that was moved to the new site seems to have gone into odd categories. Some of the pictures did not moved over well and they wind up as missing images for some of the posts before the move. That is likely why your profile is an article.

My intent in posting those queries was to encourage others to fill out a detailed profile, that is anything they are willing to share. It is so nice to be able to read profiles & get a good sense of the member.

Morning!

We did not feel it here.

But I was stupid and lost a hen last night

.

I have a silkie who seems to have recovered badly from wry neck she was very thin and seemed to have trouble eating and while she could move did not like to walk. She could not tell where anything was. I was tube feeding her last night (have been for about 5 days since I noticed something wrong) And put her back in the coop and did not lock up !

This morning there were white feathers at the window. She was the only silkie taken and I was very lucky. Im sad she died painfully But I was going to have to figure out something soon and clearly couldn't breed her.

Its been an interesting morning...

So sorry to hear that...

. You said she was the only Silkie taken...but were other birds also taken? Hope not! Any idea what got her?
