These Orp chicks are making me crazy!! Maybe I'm just not meant to have any Orps. So I only got 3/8 to hatch. Then I had the one with the freakish leg that I had to cull. #2 is the one that tried to hatch foot first, and has curled toes (and wears the little shoes), Now: I go to check on the chick after getting home from work, and #3 is laying upside down in the water dish. I thought it was dead -it looked dead. So I reached in and picked it up. When I saw that it was breathing (barely) I put it under my shirt (in my arm-pit -- it was the warmest place I could think of at the time) and went in the house to figure out what to do. While I was walking around it started peeping. So I put a clean stoneware pan in the (oven to heat it up), and got some canning jars and put hot water in them. Now she seem just fine (just a little tired), and is sitting in a warm pan, cuddled up with jars on the book shelf.![]()
