Hi all,

I've come here hoping for advice from all of you.

I have an OEGB hen who has a white eye. I hadn't noticed it until today. I took her out of the breeding pen and she's inside now. We have this "terramycin" ointment that we use for pink eye in our sheep, goats and occasionally dog, and I put some of that on her eye. It always clears up our livestock's eyes. But I've never seen this before in a chicken. Her pupil is white, and the iris is more of a murky shade of white and her whole eye is swollen.

Heard of this before? Any advice?

I don't know of anyone in that area specifically, but there's always the option of shipping eggs.

No...I trust the Brinsea on the temps/humidity. It was the separate one I bought last year for the Farm Innovators. Looks like this: I actually let the salt water test sit for more like 36 hours. It got the 57% within 6 hours and never changed after that. I'm going to be candling the eggs I just put in Lockdown after the sun goes down. It sounds like you are doing great with this clutch. Can't get much better that 38 out 40.:woot
I cant remember what I was going to say here! Oh yes! I have decided I hate that thermometer. Mine sucks. It varies widly when the spot check says im stedy.

I do in san jose. I have no idea about the eye either except to say blind chickens seem to do ok with a friend 1/2 blind she should be fine if that is the extent of the issue. Good luck ! We went to the movies tonight at cinaquest and saw the documentary shorts. One of them was On Icelandic horses! It was great and had lots pf shots of landscape sheep and animals. The film maker was there and when her crowd died down I asked her how she managed to get all these indegnious animals and not icelandic chickens. She said she saw not a single chicken the whole time she was there. Those things are rarer then I thought!

Wow! Much drama here this morning. Something came in the big dog door and attacked my seremas on the covered porch .

Everyone is fine but that is scary. One of the new girls screams like a baby. I woke from a dead sleep and ran buck naked out to see what was happening. Mario said the fox tried on the ducks tonight too and tried to tip the quail cage over. It has avoided the trap might need other means. :(
