So the first 9 hatched no problem. The next 5 that pipped and or zipped for stuck...why? The membrane turned brown and they got dried and stuck why does this happen?
That can happen with the last ones to hatch. It is often a function of their vigor at hatching. Increasing humidity at hatch can lessen the time it takes for the membrane to dry but will not stop it for slow hatching chicks.

Shipping stress
Flock health
incubation temperatures
humidity during incubation and lockdown
Ventilation are causes

I got them at the Stockton show they looked to be a week old? I would guess 2 1/2 to 3 months old. The other ones crowed so they had to go. This one was way smaller than the other ones. I've never had Bresse before so I'm not sure about the comb and wattles.

Aaarg! 3d try at post.

Cackle Try corid too just in case. Likely they would have told you if it was cocci but possibly not.

The games on here are mostly homeschooling people who need interaction. Parents know its prety safe. Chicken people may be crotchety but very unlikely to be off!

Pet im always wrooried those are too sharp for chicks. But I know people use them.

Liz that is red to be a girl but if its not crowing you may still have hope. If I figure out how to get you a showgirl we can get you more eggs mebby.

Yes, BYC is being Glitchy. I expect Chicken little to make an appearance soon....

Quote: The combs and wattles are fairly big for pullets.

Good news though, that one will be ready for dinner soon if it is a Cockerel. If all of the others were crowing and this one was not, you have a good chance at a boy. Also there are no hackle and saddle feather yet.
