No, I'm too busy trying to hatch the purebreds!

I know the Del crosses make sex links. Don't know about the Dork crosses.
Bethbug here on BYC is the one who sold me the egg that Petunia hatched from. She also had some Dorking over RIR eggs available and said the boys have the head spot at hatch. I am going to give Norma about 8 CA Grey eggs on Sat for the Easter hatchalong but I am might sneak a couple of Dorking eggs in too. Since they are ranged with both Ozzie and the General they could be Del or NH crosses. I am anxious to see what but either way they will be great layers and meat birds.

The CG Del cross makes a tasty cockerel though. He was surprisingly meaty.

Dear Chickee, Capayvalleychick, Mendocinosunris, Lawatt, Happy Chooks, and Audio51,

I would like to thank you for your kind comments, and helpful information. Unfortunately, I am having difficulty with single and multi quota feature in my account, which made it impossible for me to respond individually.

I wish you a wonderful day : )

I need to take another peek soon but when I checked on the 23rd only 3 clears and 1 early quitter. There's another one that I'm not sure about.. 8 think 14 of the 18 is pretty good for shipped. Eight more days...eternity.
That is real good for shipped eggs! Sure hope mine do as well! To me the time just flew by! But for you it must seem super slow!

Can't wait to see pictures of the babies!

I have what I think is an odd question, but I know you all will have an answer! I have noticed that the yolks in one of my Buff Orpingtons eggs isn't as orange as it used to be..it has become a light orangey yellow color...I'm assuming it is dietary? But what? Protein? Vitamins? More veggie treats? Anyone have any ideas? Or is it an age thing? She is only 3...just perplexed. :idunno

I always thought they were the same thing, but when I just looked it up I see there is a difference. I found a great website that even has recordings of crows vs ravens. I will have to look and listen more closely when I see them again to be sure which mine are.

What a great website! Thanks for the link. You can even look up chickens. (Well, praire-chickens!

In our area, the crows harass the hawks and the scrub jays harass the crows. We have an active group of resident scrub jays that own the oak trees out back and jealously guard their territory. Have only seen a crow in the yard once in 11 yrs, and it killed a baby scrub.

No attacks on chickens so far.

The orangey yolk color comes carotinoid pigmants found in grass and leafy greens, and yellow veggies like pumpkins and corn. Some egg producers add marigold petals to make the yolks brighter.

Thank you! And the lightbulb went on because I've been working on the garden and don't have the chicken barriers around my veggies up yet so their access to the greens like they usually get to munch on has been limited!
I will have to make a few changes. The not so orangey eggs just arent as cheerful to look at! :hu They are kinda dull! I know it sounds crazy, but it's true! I also just ordered some of the seed from Peaceful Valley that Pet Rock uses so I'll have happy chickens and cheerful eggs again soon! Thanks again!

Chickee, that is so not fair! Mine up here just look like little brown eggs. They are adorable and I'm so ready to see what comes from these eggs.

I'm looking forward to the fuzzy cheeks on the d'Anvers, the Cleopatra eye strip on the phoenix and the chestnut brown rocks chicks.
