I believe it's a smooth feathered frizzleCan Silkies have feathers that aren't "Silky" ? I hatched 2 sets of "Silkie/ Frizzle" eggs. There are possibilties of pure Silkies, frizzles and a mix with them. So are these non-Silkied Silkies, or smooth feathered Frizzles, or...? This is one of my 9 week olds, that looks like a Silkie, but her feathers are together. Poor thing can hardly see at all.
These are 2 of my 2 week olds. They have the same coloring, but one has separated feathers, and the other doesn't.

Wow, that was fast! Has that been 2 months or so? Seemed like a month ago you had the one hatch and found your chicks. Nice hen ratio , by the way!

Well we have the coop setup in the back yard just waiting for my month old delawares to be ready for outside. Its a small coop from Costco. Not a bad deal for something to start with. My wife decided she wanted a couple buff orpingtons so we now have 2 babies in the house a way from the others in the garage. I will have to build a larger Hen house and caged in run over the next month or two as the new ones are growing up and the others make the transition to outside. Ive noticed right away that the orpingtons are very different from the dele's.
The Delewares are getting too big for the box now. They are about 4.5 weeks and all have most of their head feathers in. Very little down left. Do you think I might be able to transition them to the new coop this weekend or do I really need to wait another 4 weeks. I can probably put a light in the hen house at night.
