The top one is one of my favorites. I'm hoping :fl it's a girl. It's 9 weeks old, and all her feathers look rounded. When she starts laying we can plan the hensemination. :highfive: I have another 8 week old that is the same pattern as the chicks on the bottom, except it is frizzled. Is that a Partridge pattern? This one is my hubby's favorite. I think it has scary eyes though. :hide
Wow! What beautiful coloring! I love your blue too! I had a blue frzzle in my initial group of chicks! It was such a friendly chic and my favorite! Unfortunately one morning sitting out with the chicks in their new coop and drinking my tea..yep! I was treated to a glorious attempt at a crowing sound! He went to a good home in Clayton with lots of silkie hens! I'll be thinking pulley for you!

Good Morning! It is great to hear your plans. Do you have a coop design and plans yet?

I'm working out a design. My brother in law will probably help me build it. (He is amazing at wood work)

The general plan is to add an additional larger hen house to the opposite end of the small coop where the small run door is andbuild a ramp down from the new hen house into the smaller one.
Then open the larger side door into a more open air caged run that encloses a good section of my back yard. probably about 6x12 feet.

Months back I remember seeing a row of pens being built, I think they were capavalley's. I thought I had saved it but can't find it now. The set up was terrific other than the roof, we get to much rain The side by side design would really cut down on cost.

@Audio51 , Thanks I will give it a try maybe before the Cinco de Mayo hatch. If I offered Layer/Meat bird eggs...some of which would be sex links do you think people would buy them?

@caychris I have put littles outside at 3-4 weeks with a light if the day time temps are 60 ish. or higher. I rig a heat lamp above a nest box and they can opt to get under it or not. Heatlamps can cause fires so be careful to make sure it won't be knocked down but I for sure would think your Dels are old enough to move out. Here are a couple of pics of mineL

The pens at her place are very nice!

^ So pretty!!
I've bought mixed "meat bird" eggs before. I'm not sure the sex-link thing would matter though, If you were going to eat all of them anyway.

. I think people would buy them. I love hatching mixed eggs. My problem is that I have to sell/find homes for most of the chicks, I just keep my favorites. It's easier to sell "pure breed" chicks and EE's.
