Quote: Yes! it can get cold in Paris, doesn't it? I remember loosing the feeling completely on my toes and fingers while running to catch the bus to Musees De Arts. I admire your profession! Teachers: the ones who nourish the mind and the soul... It has been couple of years since I have been back home to Europe, and miss it very much! My daughter, Nicole, who lives in Japan, was in Italy for 2 months for a business trip just recently, which was her first visit to Europe, and she simply fell in love with the country and it's people. Now she is hoping to get herself transferred to England or France. Laura, I hope you go back there..the American professors are highly regarded and in big demand. I saw the photos of your Silver Campines; they are beyond cute, and adorable... : )

Anyone have a good candler? I'm wanting to buy one, and would love to know what people bought and would recommend.

I feel for you I fried all my eggs last night .
Oh man! So sorry. Heart breaking & so frustrating.

On the up side, all 24 eggs I got from you are fertile & developing nicely under 2 hens (22 silkie/showgirl + 2 Bresse).
I am NOT checking any more because my cuckoo marans hen went all DefCon5 on me - biting, twisting, then stomping.
What a freak.
In my head, I have been listing the advantages & disadvantages of broodies vs incubators a lot this week.

The incubator hatch is still progressing but slowly: 2 more lemon cuckoo orps + 2 jubilee orps + 1 chocolate orp total.
4 more pipping which leaves 5 still thinking about it all. I saw definite movement in 2 but the other 3, hmmm...

One of the LC orp hatch with curled toes & splay leg. I have it taped & shoe'd & propped up but it hasn't gotten much better yet.
I'll keep exercising it & we'll see how it goes.
That's a first for me.
Thank you to all of you for your helpful info for treating that.

Has anyone heard of Bantam RIR's? I picking up eggs tonight from a guy that raises them. He says they are show quality, and one of his roo's won 1st place at a show in Stockton this January. He's selling them for $12 for a dozen though.... (Them and eggs from his other chickens)
