As usual..........you soooooooooo make me laugh. We know Mario is a good guy though. He would probably do anything you asked....especially if it came with his favorite cookies....LOLAhahahah.. It was on my facebook feed.. sometime this week.. there is like NO way...
Ill ask Mario if it will show up in my browser history..
Here is how that conversation is gonna go..
Honey I need you to look in my history for a article.. its about chickens.. it was linked via facebook.. not reddit..
I might have been on my phone.. but not sure.. dont think on the computer.. but maybe... MIGHT have been the pad.. but maybe not...
He is gonna loo at me and tell me he used to charge 175 and hour for that stuff. lmao... I see me making his favorite cookies soon..
I followed all these posts through. Thank you Ron for posting the picture. I wasn't sure how to juggle the camera and light. So there is nothing to do? I hatch in cartons anyway. Is the turner not good for them?Air cells like that are in shipped eggs--often the survivors of poor packing. There are usually broken eggs in the package too. they show up after the first week.
Eggs like that have to be set in cartons for the entire time. I have been able to hatch eggs like that but it is hard because the embryo was damaged from the shipping too.

They both look like splashes to me. See how they almost look lavender and gold? Typical of the splashes. Now, I don't know what lines these came from, but none of my blues have ever looked like this as chicks.
Thank you! I'll make sure to wait until the little ones are feathered out, 3/4 the size of the big girls and give them all plenty of "see but no touch" time before I try and put them together. The ONLY breeds I have been able to add babies to in the enclosed run are barnveilders and olandsk dwarf. Everyone else I let spend the day in the main yard with PLENTY of space, then bring the babies in for the night . When they don't care about seeing each other in the yard anymore and run in and out of the run together sharing the feeder and water- THATS when we do a trial overnighter. I've had eaten babies and even pullets when rushing things with certain breeds:-(
@chiqita - or anyone. We are considering passing along our smoothe and frizzle serama. We have no hens for them and they're feisty over it I think. If no one here is interested we may take them to the sparks 4h sale in a few months...

Thanks. I'll have to request darker ones when I get more!
How do you tell the difference between blue & black? They looked pretty much the same to me in your pictures.
My husband's going to Redding at the end of the week, and he'll be picking up a couple of already laying pullets for me from Urbanviewfarms when he comes back homeOne my choice, one his (of a narrowed down field)--so I know I'll be getting a green-laying EE, and the other will be laying green, white, or cream.![]()

The bigger not-brown egg. Now that I look again, maybe it's bluish?
Anyway, he'd be picking them up probably around 6pm-ish. Since it'll be dark not too long afterwards, does he need to worry about food and/or water?
He'd be getting home after midnight, and where the quarantine pen is is pitch black after dark. Should I go out with a flashlight and settle the pullets in, or leave them in the carrier in the van and get up early to put them in the pen?
I don't know if my husbands coming home via 299 then 101 or going up 5 and then down 199. Both ways are pretty windy, though the 299/101 combo is worse. Are chickens liable to get carsick? And is a box-with-holes good enough for a 6 hour trip?
Funny thing--my husband was talking with someone who thought that, since we're in county and not city, he (the friend) thought we didn't have any number restrictions. When I told my husband that I'd rather go by what the zoning lady said on the phone, he said he doubted anyone was going to come along and count birdsThink I'll still go by the limit, though--or maybe I'll go up to a full dozen instead of 11![]()
