Hmmm....if this one egg doesn't hatch or end up being a boy, I might be interested. I was glad to hear you say that they are tasty. We are really trying to stick with dual purpose birds at the farm but my friend also sells eggs so would like some pretty colors in the cartons. My CLs are good layers of large blue eggs. Ron, are the U of A blue eggs as big as the CL eggs? Also, I'm sure you've mentioned it but how are they for meat? I am trying to decide which blue egg laying breed to raise. I love my Ameraucanas but they sure are not the best egg layers.I just had a CL boy hatch a couple of days ago. He will be looking for a home or a freezer.
I will let Jeremy know. He has so many projects going right now it is amazing.Ron, I'm going to jump our conversation from the CL hybrid line to this one. Since we switched to talking about Langshans! If Jeremy wants Langshans, I know where he can get some!We are actually thinking about downsizing the number of cocks we have. We currently have 4 black cockerels and are only going to keep the 2 biggest and best. At this point, I don't have any girls to go with them but hopefully we will have some culls in the fall. I am hoping that my Pita Pinta/Langshan crosses end up being a good dual purpose bird. They are sure growing fast! The boys and maybe the girls too will be headed to the farm this week to feast on field bugs & vegetation.![]()
I bet you are looking forward to late summer! Please thank him for his service and thank you for your support!
I'm thinking these would taste good with Turkey sausage too! Make a real thin patty or cut links in half...hmmmm. Happy cooking!![]()
Quote: Yes I am! But I can't rush the time. if I do hat litle bi I get to see him goes by fast too :/ Will do and you're welcome![]()
Yes I have gotten hooked on the beef sausages and bacon over turkey... but my store is being poopy and no longer carries it. *sigh* Thanks
LOL it's bad when all you kids tell you you need a new dishwasher![]()
The UofA eggs are Large. They are consistently a crystal blue color and none of mine have been green at all. They do not get too big but I did pick the one with the best bone structure for breeding. Kim reminded me to do that when I picked out the breeding pen group.Hmmm....if this one egg doesn't hatch or end up being a boy, I might be interested. I was glad to hear you say that they are tasty. That is great!I have 1 UofA blue chick, 1 pip on penedesenca and 1 CL Pip !![]()
I have 36 eggs being set for hatch for the Easter Hatch Along. A few of them are iffy but I am hopeful for the one CL egg to hatch and be a boy! I think that I should try some of the U of A chicks for blue egg layers.
That is great!
I hope you get a bunch of them.
That's what I was thinking. I have 6 that are 11 weeks old (3 boys & 3 girls). The boys are slated to be dinner for sure. They are a little taller than the Bresse that they hatched with but not quite as solid. I expected the long legs due to the Langshan genes. In looks, they look more like Langshans except they have red eyes and mottled legs. Their coloring is not even which I suspect is due to the mottled or painted PP genes. They are cute birds and I have more of this mix in the incubator and waiting to go in.I will let Jeremy know. He has so many projects going right now it is amazing.
The PP by Langshan cross might be very nice. The PPs grow fast any way so the hybrid cross could make a very nice meat bird.
