They stay cute no matter what stage of development they're in. I wanna get me a blue or lavender colored one. Right now all I've got is California and New Zealand and don't plan on breeding them for a few more months.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! Most of my family is freaked out by the "naked pink things". 

They grow so fast! Today is only day 2 and they have a thin layer of fuzz.

OMG I am in love with this one wingnut. As soon as I get home, I roll the top off the brooder so the baby chooks can work on flapping and jumping around the office while I do paperwork. This one little wingnut is always the first to leap out and then to leap on my lap or shoulder and squeak for treats. The adorable ness knows no bounds....

It was a replacement from a pair my daughters wanted as we went to buy feed for our egg layers. She just grew on me also was the bottom of the pecking order.

I have one in thr AM pen like that. It is hard not to want to rescue her, but nothing is really wrong.........someone has to be at the bottom...right?

Duck eggs pipping today and it's only day 25! They were set on 3/31 in the afternoon. I went in to take them off the turner for lockdown and found about 5 or 6 of them already pipped! Also have 8 of 10 fertile BCM and Marans.EE mix eggs hatched and the last 2 pipped...

ended up with about 3/4" but its melting off even know its still snowing some

We had her in a moveable cage on the lawn so it could be like a chicken tractor. This morning I woke up to sprinkles and got up at 2: 00 a.m. to drag a piece of metal roofing over and weigh it down with a brick (not easy to do by flashlight while holding a robe shut because the tie was MIA). It worked good for the sprinkles we were getting. Made it to Woodland and back in time to get her moved before the gullywasher hit. I was worried sick the whole way home. North of Stockton the rain was horrendous. Terrible visibility. Anyway, she was happy and dry.

We moved them into the broody house. Our broody house is an old 10 x 12 play house that was built in the 1960's. I have lights hanging from the rafters over individual broody boxes. It works pretty good. She is obviously not under a light. Happy as a clam! And we got to see her babies. It is the cutest thing! 2 Golden Laced Wyandottes and 3 EE's. Since she only had 5 eggs due to hatch, I'd say she was pretty successful for a first time mommy!

I love how she talks to her babies. Breaking up the food and dropping it for them. Tucking them back in. It's all adorable.
