California - Northern

This photo isn't the most clear but so cute. I had to put her in a cage to keep the dog from snacking on chickpops. We let her out for short periods when we are outside.

I'm just trying to avooid places where vermin could push the wire in where it hanging over the edge and get into the brooder. Maybe a peice of plywood could be cut with a jigsaw the shape of the tube and then cut again inside that leaving a few inches for the edge. Hardware cloth could them be attached to that

I got some wonderful Basque hatching eggs from @juststruttin in 2012. I kept 1 hen and she's a trooper - great layer, good health. Interesting body shape - they look really front-heavy, like they are always leaning forward a bit. Not sure I'd describe her as crele though, but you be the judge:

Her siblings varied - one had more white & the other was darker gold/red.
The cockerels are kind of a gingery or golden crele pattern. The hens not so much. They are striking when all together though! Maybe @ronott1 has some photos in his files that he can share. This is mine that died, he is more yellow than the one from Ron. The one from Ron is absolutely gorgeous!

Well my frame was 2x4 so the whole thing was pretty heavy. Im not worried about any "vermin" significant enough to move it. its now serving as a makeshift divider for the brooder box. Their inside boxes were getting a bit ripe and didnt want to change them just to have them go into the brooder. They seem happier.

I am not familiar with that color of AMs Jason. I will have to look it up. How is their egg color?
I rec'd the Bielefelder eggs in the mail today & have them resting in an egg carton point down. I didn't want to wait any longer so put the Silver Cuckoo Marans eggs going a couple of days ago & just filled the rest of the Brinsea 20 with my eggs. The Silver Cuckoos are beautiful birds but don't have the egg color the BCM have. I love crele birds so really like the look of the Bielefelders. I hope they are heat hardy. I hear the Basque are & they are crele colored & big right??????
take a look. they are pretty and the rarest variety of a standard Ameraucana variety. I just want some hens so may have some Roosters available

Karen, you need some Golden Cuckoo Marans if you like the crele look.

That is why I like mine. I am working on egg color. One of my pullets lays a nice dark egg that has not lightened up over her laying cycle. Below are some of her eggs. I just hatched a couple pullets from her eggs to further my project.

Oooh! I love the look of the Pyncheons!

Hope you have a good hatch!

I am excited because today my porcelain d'Anver hen who hasn't laid for almost a year has started laying! Now I can use my buff Columbian rooster with her because he carries porcelain. That will give me both colors and both are accepted colors for showing.

You should see the Basque cockerel I just picked up from Ron. I can't wait for quarantine to be over so he can meet the girls. Lovely birds!
Does this mean I will soon has local access to hatching eggs???? Lucky me...LOL

You are so right Jason. I love them but was unable to find any pictures of their eggs. My plain (in comparison) blues & blacks lay very nice blue eggs that I am happy with the color off. So many I have seen are so washed out looking. My Blue Wheatens were the best I have had for egg color.

Fellow basque people, this is Hans. He is from Megan's line, amazing hackles and saddle on him. He insists on using the bantam door and is wearing out his tail feathers. I expect his chest to fill out more also.
