I am sorry about the predators! and the loss of the Marans.

I hope the rooster recovers.

thanks, i have my fingers crossed but he is not looking good at this point.

AND, i shouldn't have mentioned the long survival of the feral chicken -- as i just heard a commotion, and looked out my office window just in time to see a fluffy-tailed fox carrying him/her off. so, everyone will be staying inside their pens for the near future...

Need some advice here; on of my bantam cochins eyes is ...weird.

This is the normal one, bad lighting but the yellow iris is bright and the pupil clear.

This one seems dark. It's not really cloudy, more like the "clear" part of the eye is tinted darker, like sunglasses. It's a little bigger than the other and he seems to keep it closed some of the time. It's not weepy, or pussy and doesn't seem to bother him. I also can't find any sign of damage or blood.

Would this be some kind of genetic thing, or something contagious? Any ideas on what it could be or how to help?
One of my delaware chicks was very similar to this. She is effectively blind in that eye. She came to me that way. It initially looked like her eye was just mostly closed most of the time. She seems to get along just fine. She walks very carefully and doenst jump much or fly. She moves her head a lot to compensate. I would suspect some genetic defect in development but otherwise she is just fine the blindness actually makes her more tolerant to being held and "helped" and a lot easier to catch. I find she will position the blind side towards walls and things so her good eye can focus on the important stuff. Smart chicken really she has learned to compensate. I do find that she tends to mis-peck occasionally when offered treats she will miss the target.(Usually when excited and competing with the others from a position where she doesnt have her best field of vision.) This one doesnt look as advance as severe as mine.

Thank you! What kind of drops?

Beautiful!

Vetricyn makes a spray for eyes. @PetRock said it worked for her chickens.

I would start with regular eye drops. They do a good job by themselves but order or get the vetricyn from a feed or pet store. You can get a better price from Amazon though.

Awesome! What kind are they?
The Dark brown eggs and the lighter brown bigger eggs are Partridge Penedesenca. The thinner brown eggs are OEs, Crele Penedesencs x UofA Blue. The green eggs are Crele Penedesenca x Cream legbar crossed back to crele penedesenca. The blue eggs are UofA blues and the Cream to pink eggs are Pita Pinta.

They will be amazing chickens!

4 pips under my broody tonight. I couldn't get to the other 2 she's sitting on. I'm already ahead 1, I only though 3 of the pyncheons were still going but but the 3 questionable one's back under her. Had to give them a chance and so far so good.

I couldn't get the phoenix into the vet until Wednesday so I'll be doing phy therapy till then. He is super sweet, would really hate to lose him.
