California - Northern

Thank you!! I can't wait. Hopefully I'll be able to make back some of the purchase cost for my pretty girl lol :) I'm so glad she's finally settled in here, she was even dustbathing today! Took her almost two weeks but it was like a switch just flicked on inside her & she was suddenly ready to be out and about & start laying again.
Not to be Debbie Downer, but do you know that she was only with Tolbunt Polish cocks?

Oh, I didn't buy the incubator for her eggs - I was planning on having someone else hatch the eggs for me, but I didn't get enough from her to make the trip to Chico worthwhile. I bought the incubator just for fun.

I only have room in my bator for 12 eggs, and want to set all her eggs until the three week mark, but I should have more room after candling my eggs to see which ones aren't developing.
How long left till the 3 week cutoff? Could you save hers until then and set them all at once?

Exactly what I was thinking...hold them until all have been laid and set them at the same time. That way there won't be one hatching every day for 10 days. What does everyone else think?

Well if I hold them all until the three week mark then I won't be able to set them all at the same time as there will be too many. I was thinking of setting a dozen once I have a dozen, then setting the rest after the eggs I currently have in the bator hatch.

Oh I couldn't help myself...I took a VERY quick peek into my Tolbunt Polish eggs. Did not touch them or move them. It's not day 7 yet but this is what I saw in one of them!!! Is it sad that this is one of the most exciting things I've ever done? Lol!

I'm so excited. Hopefully the other one will show veins when I candle on day 7. Is it possible for eggs that are viable to not be showing veins on day 5?

That is so exciting! I am so happy for you!

That would work too. I just meant you don't want to set each on the day it is laid. If you are starting to collect tomorrow then you would not have 12 until the 7th of June.. That will be a couple of days after the 3 weeks...but if they have good fertility you may get lucky and still get a few fertile ones after that.

Don't forget that I also have two other white egg layers, and both of them are laying an egg nearly every day. I'll be setting those eggs, too, even though they are infertile because I can't tell them apart from the Tolbunt eggs. And Deb says her pen of 7? Tolbunts lay about 6 eggs each day so I expect to get an egg from her *most* days. So I will have quite a few to set, if I get 2 white eggs a day then in just a week I'll have 14 eggs.
