How is your hatch going, Karen? I'm interested in also hearing how the Pita Pintas are hatching.

So far there are 4 Pita Pintas out, 4 CLBs 3 girls & 1 boy, 2 BBS Orps & 1 Delaware & 3 pips. I will leave them & just keep checking them. I didn't even know if the BBS Orps were fertile I hadn't been hatching them lately but am sending that pen to a friend's house in Hilmar. She wants eggs so I am having her take the whole pen so its a win win for both of us. I hope more Delawares hatch for Chris. They are from Jules @fortyfivefarm Delawares. She brought me the eggs to hatch. That Hovabator wasn't due until tomorrow. The CLB are behind schedule unless they are like the Marans & late hatchers. This is my first time hatching them. Everything else was in the Hovabator.
I really want to stop hatching but would love to see if the new Delaware rooster is active & what he would produce so maybe I will go one more round. Laying in this heat is down though so I will have to see what I can get out there.

Anyone know what gff's Rees cream legbars are about? I'm assuming new blood. They are more expensive. What's the hype?

Shhhh, keep it quiet, but the other imports did not go well. They did not get good CCLs(Crested Cream Legbars) so they are trying again and asking us to pay for their foibles. Did they get it right this time?

I hope so!

I don't wanna hear it!

I'm not sure what line Cacklejoy's are but Karen is hatching some eggs for me from hers.

My daughter needed to clean the brooder today and so we sent all the buffs into the main coop run and locked the dels into the old small coop. Not enough time tonight to supervise a visit to see how the Del's handle even more strange chickens but I plan to do it soon.

It looks like the fosters will be with me a bit longer than I had planned. I may just have to just let them sort everything out on their own. The fosters are getting a bit big for the brooder. They are 8 weeks this week and really need to be homed outside.

Glad the heat has passed but need to keep an eye out for more on the horizon. I think I need a more permanent cover for the run and more shade. Ill see what I can do so the garden doesn't lose its sun in the process.

I know PapaBrooder has CLL's, most are crested, mine is very pretty and has a nice crest! She's still just a baby

@juststruttin is the local CCL Expert--she has very nice ones. What some have done is take the three imports and work on getting them to the Standard they want for the US.

Chiqita has nice ones too.

Quote: Thanks she is sweet but being raised by one of my most skittish girls she isn't sure she can trust me yet...she is getting more friendly all the time though.
