She will be fine to eat when she recovers.I will keep her in the crate in the house. I don't/can't have roosters so the breeding part is no problem. She is a "meat bird" so she wasn;t going to be around long. If she recovers, she will need to re-gain some weight. Would it be safe to eat her when she has recovered if it is Marek's?
Isn't the Web Fire at Yosemite?
Quote: That would be great, Ron! I would like to save a copy of that to my files.
Quote: Well...that's a good sign then. I think if it was close enough to be a threat you would know it. I actually think that one is the Sand Fire though
Aww....so sorry. Poor girl. Definitley sounds like it is time though.Sad this evening. My husband is finally calling it and putting down one of my gold laced orpington hens. She's been unable to lay for I dont know how long. She tries to lay and the egg breaks inside her and the egg innards sowly just leak out. Then the shell less membrane would come out a little and I would just pull it out the rest of the way. She's been slowly getting sicker and sicker. Today she spent allllll day in the nest and was almost dead when I got her out. I've been trying everything. Oyster shell, and all that stuff and no improvement. Poor girl![]()

I did get her to drink a little water with electrolytes and eat a little scrambled eggs this evening. Not much but a couple of bites.

I just ran out of things to do for her and she was getting worse and worse. We didn't want her to suffer anymore and she was at the end![]()
That is frustrating!
I have had a couple with laying problems and it is not pleasant.

I hope you get some nice little ladies out of the group.Lockdown last night! It's been amazing to me how much easier this 2nd try at incubating has been for me. I think the full bator has made a big difference; and the tube I ran thru one of the bottom vents into the water reservoir to fill from. I've only opened it 5 times since I set them. Final count at lockdown: 3/4 GCM (1 I was unsure of, it looked a little "bright" for day 18 but I left it anyway) 3/6 BCM, 1/3 SFH (saw it rocking this morning) 3/4 CLB and 5/11 bantam Cochin (1/3 white; 4/8 mixed color)![]()

It sounds like the best thing is to end it. Sorry, I'm sure you did all you could for her.I just ran out of things to do for her and she was getting worse and worse. We didn't want her to suffer anymore and she was at the end![]()
