I want a showgirl. I just don't have enough room in my flock for all the birds that I want.

@ronott1 Yes, Magic Mike is delightful but my heart belongs to Fezzik

He hates his new rooster collar - but IT WORKS.

Good to know they will sellable. I had that in the back of my head when I bid on them. THere have been lots of people on the FB poutry page asking for silkies. Hopefully there will still be a market when these are ready.

I am so jealous of your new building! My storage was just outside the entrance to the pen...untill we fenced in a bigger area so they would not be eating the entire year. Now the storage is inside the new pen and they sit on everything and poop in it.

. I need to move everything outside the new fence lines.
I saw your post with a picture of your adorable show girl on FB. I am sure the chicks will get snapped right up because even I am tempted!

I need to post a picture of my two partridge boys and see if there are any takers.

My chicken food is also in garbage cans in the pens and my chickens get up on them and poop all over them, so I will be so happy to have a room to put them in. Makes it hard when it rains too!
Righ now they all look parallel to the body. Just watch. I can't see wings in pic one if that is the worrying one however.
I do a lot of googleing when I get a report. I ha e a friend who calls and goes over it that works too.
silkie boys do well in an all boy pen mostly. I had one who was a big hair puller that got rehomed. But its an option if you get attached.

Next part is for below comment!

The great and terrible part of silkies is sexing. You will be able to tell people no clue with confidence however.
Wish I had room for a bantam boys pen. Even with the new chicken house I am going to have to downsize to make things work.

The Catdance Silkies are real easy to sex. The boys show themselves by their comb development real early.

@chickee My husband is a tree man. He can remove an entire tree by ziplining it out of the yard. I'm sure you can find a skilled professional to do the job w/o having to move anything in the yard.

If your plan is to move the house and run in order to cut the tree, I'd suggest you look into a professional tree crew. I had a guy come take a cracked 12" dia oak limb, bridged 50 feet over my kids tree house just resting against another tree and ready to drop. He put on his harness, climbed up tied off and had it down in no time. Price was reasonable.

May want to call for estimates, it could be a good option.
Thanks for the ideas/info on having someone take the trees out. The old chicken house has to come out anyway and the kennel house was built on skids so we can move it. Even if we had someone remove the trees, it is still going to be a lot of work to dismantle and remove the old house.

Looks awesome! Love new chicken houses! So fun having a new space to play with.
You should know since you just built an awesome one yourself.

How are all those chickens doing? Would love to see a recent picture of the splash wheaten rooster you hatched from my eggs.

Not crazy about the LR roosters. The wheaten roosters color is off, but he is gorgeous! Has good type though. He would make some pretty OEs. How are your LR babies looking?

Got the last wall up today. It really looks like a house now! Next is the roof! Looks like I will be using laminate flooring since it actually costs less than linoleum at .59 cents a foot! Got lucky and my BIL has a bunch of new metal roofing left over from doing his roof and wants to just give it to us! He also has a bunch of expanded metal we can have for the 2x3 ventilation holes in each room. I found a couple of good, used windows at the RE store for only $22 and $24 dollars for a 2x3 slider and a 3x4 single hung window. Still on the lookout for a 3x3 window.

How was the Heirloom Festival today? We are headed there tomorrow! Is anyone else planning on being there? I am looking forward to having a slice of pink apple pie!
