With the salmon breasts they should be real pretty! Hope you get some like that. I will be looking forward to seeing pictures!

At least 2 out of 3 have hatched and fluffed up--I saw a black head and a pale head when I fed the chickens this morning! I'll be moving the family after we get home from church later, and I'll get pictures then.

Should I move mom first or babies first? Or does it not matter?

Depends on the hen... If the hens are quiet and docile I put a towel in a cat crate and move them all together, but if the hen is a nutter, I move them in two different crates so non get injured (squished) when moving.

Congrats!

Can;t wait to hatch some!  They seem to keep more of the white than the mottled Ameraucana.

I finally figured that out.  I wish they would just have a section that says "Cause of Death : Coccidiosis" or what ever it was that killed them.

I need some Boy Scouts to build me a bigger one... :D
That is wonderful!! Yay for the Boy Scouts. Wish I lived closer to my Bot Scout grandson!! In the meantime I have my hubby and brother in law securing my coop!?

We've lost Omelette (our White Rock) to internal laying. We've already agreed that one of the chicks will be named after her.

So sorry that you lost her....

I got my first quail eggs today! The pale wonky-looking egg in the picture is the first pullet egg from on of my Dominiques, and the last egg is just a normal egg from my red.
Yeah!!!!! Maybe that means I will get some soon!

Quote: I keep meaning to get some of that, but always forget when I am out...

I hear peeping!

Quote: I can never read the weight when I do that..... the bowl seems to cover it...

I hear chirping from inside the R-Com
How mean! I am trying to quit hatching for the season and it s sooo hard when everyone is hatching!

I only ended up with 1 silkie chick hatching under my broody on Friday out of 8 that made it to lockdown. Eggtopsy showed 5 late deaths (2 of those were internally pipped) and 2 much earlier deaths. Eggs were shipped from Tennessee. Well packed but the ones that started to develop almost all had wonky aircells (Saddle shaped). At least the broody got 1 chick to raise.

I usually don't move anyone until 2 days past the due date.

Regarding the scale, someone posted that they use a clear tupperware type container and that they can see the display though the plastic. Of course I "scale train" mine, lol.
